hey so lately ive been working on my first real diy portable laser. i posted here several months ago with my initial plans, and the final build is relatively close to those. it is not 100% complete yet, (still missing back portion - battery tailcap) but i did have it running sort of so i could get some pictures. first thing to note would be that the laser is completely built from scratch, out of some aluminum and copper rod machined on a mini lathe. the laser module is a 1/2" x 1/2" copper cylinder which i machined to fit a standard aixiz lens. however, as it turns out, the threads do not go deep enough into the module for the laser to completely focus with an aixiz glass lens. i did happen to have an acrylic lens (shorter) that works fine with the module, and i suppose i could leave it at that, but i was wondering if there is such thing as a glass lens with the smaller size of the acrylic lenses. also, i guess it will have to be a non-focusable laser, because the lens sits flush with the front of the laser. unfortunately, being that this is a bit of a prototype, i will just have to live with these errors, and correct them with the next one i build (i plan on making a few more - red, blu-ray, maybe a green if green diodes come out anytime soon.) so thats pretty much it, let me know if you could suggest anything to improve it in any way, and i would greatly appreciate it. thanks!
btw please forgive me if there are any spelling grammar mistakes or if that whole post doesnt make a whole lot of sense - it is 4 in the morning here and i am pretty much done.
