Default My new 2.5w Arctic!

I found this monster on craigslist in my area, ended up straight trading my ps4 and my games for it..... missing the star scatter lens, i was unaware at the time and so was he, or so he says. told me if he found it he'd mail it to me as well as the safety shades as he forgot them.
It hurts to have handed over my console i payed $399 for and games i payed $50 to $60 for individually over for it. But i love it, and i will never get rid of it. I've grown apart from video games.

I ordered a laser from SciFi lasers over a month ago and just today it made it to new york, so i should receive it soon. don't know what I'm going to do with two of these, but couldn't pass it up.
Ive had it for about 2 hours as i write this post, and i love it. quality wise its great. although i have button top imr 18650's and the cap doesn't screw on all the way, i ordered some flat top imr's tonight but they're still protected batteries so i believe ill still have this issue, maybe just slightly less.
Wicked laser is an awesome laser that is becoming harder to possess in the US
Be safe fellas!

Several tips on that laser.
Button top batteries are longer as you have found out so watch out for putting undo stress on the spring/electronics/driver board.
Do not tighten the front lenses or the end cap really tight as the fine pitch bare aluminum threads might lock up and that creates a nightmare situation.
Of course safety = that is a powerful class IV laser so be super careful about using the laser until you get the laser shades from the seller.
If the seller does not come trough with the laser shades and the galaxy lens. Give me a shout as I have the laser shades for that laser and I probably have an extra S3 Spyder Series Galaxy Lens kicking around here somewhere.

Thank you! i honestly feel as if he knew this. he had the regular beam lens in the kit trying to pass it off i feel. and he claimed to have forgotten the glasses. said he wouldn't be back my way for months so.... ill send you a pm. would love to purchase a galaxy lens and some 445nm shades from you.
i screw the butt cap on until its fairly tight. but id hate to stress the driver so thanks for the help. ill defiantly make sure to take care of it. the guy i got it from didn't seem to very well honestly. first thing he did was throw my battery in it the wrong way. I ordered some flat top protected batteries is it going to screw shut with these or do i need an unprotected cell like wl came with?

Default Re: My new 2.5w Arctic!

I have a bunch of high capacity flat top 18650's for the S3 Spyder Series lasers that work perfectly for the Arctic if you want any of them.
The protected ones I believe are slightly bigger in diameter, I don't know about length. If there is any resistance as you insert it into the laser, do not push it in, they are a real bugger to get out!!
Did he give you the Users Manual/Guide and the Battery Charger also? Those are supposed to come with the Arctic laser also.
Not to sound like mother hen but please be real careful using that laser until you get the Laser Shades.
What wave length/color is the other laser your getting?
The laser Shades I will be sending you covers the range 405nm to 550nm

Congrats on getting something you want from something you don't use anymore. Laser Chick is a really nice person and I'm not surprised your being helped out.
Would also like to know what you ordered from Sci.
Are those the Sanyo equivalent to Panasonic ones? Have some but can't remember if they need a magnet between them to conduct.
+REP to LC for stepping up and helping out someone in need.

They are Sanyo batteries. They work fine as a single battery but the ends are very flat and almost recessed a bit so if you want to stack the batteries you would need to add a little bit of something to aid with contact.

I placed an order for a 1.6w 445nm from sci fi lasers. It reached newyork yesterday and should be to me soon.

I've used the laser outside so far and stayed off reflective surfaces so haven't really needed laser shades. Although I can feel how powerful this thing is regardless. Looks equivalent to a welding arc.

Laser chick I'll defiantly get a pm to you soon, as I can get on my read computer.

When I go outside with this thing at night, I always pay very close attention for airplanes in the sky. Any moving flashing light.
Truth to it is, Flight paths cross over me no matter what time it is, no matter where. There's always a plane up there, at least one if not ten.

So with this being said. If I'm not directly or purposely trying to lock onto an aircraft. Is it acceptable for me to shine my beam into the sky.

It's quite scary really. For the most part I feel that I'll find a clear patch of sky
But truth to it is we just don't know.

What's y'alls opinions on this?
............. ^ greetings from Texas

Wicked Lasers are made in China not US made. Wicked lasers will no longer ship to USA in violation of US FDA laws, rules, and regualtions so yes they harder to find as only the used item already in US market exists. Owning them is no problem.

Laser Chick has several mint condition, used only for a minute or two for testing purposes Wicked Lasers for sale from her huge collection of Wicked Lasers if you want others in the series.

Well sorry for my ignorance. Although it is a piece of quality,

Default Re: My new 2.5w Arctic!

By your OP picture it appears that you have a 3rd generation Arctic model which has the variable power feature so you will not have the 9 operating modes found on the second generation Arctic lasers. On the inside diameter of your front 100% power lens, do you have the glow in the dark material there?
About your question concerning aircraft. If it is a commercial jet at 30,000 feet above you the beam would strike the bottom of the plane. There are no windows or windshields on the bottom of the plane. The main issue is when jets are taking off and landing. Then a laser can strike the windshield and windows. Still, they might see the beam dancing around by them so the safest thing to do is what you are doing already. Study the sky for any aircraft before you point the laser into that part of the sky.
Helicopters are a totally different thing. Never point anywhere near them unless there is an emergency and you are trying to get their attention by using the laser as a beacon.

I am 15 miles from one of the busiest airports in the world and I see holding patterns where they come by steadily some nights, I do not take any chances.

If it's foggy and I can hear a plane but cant see it I don't take any chances.

But at 3am there is very little air traffic, often clear skies, that's when I will point at stars, but never with a plane in the sky, don't risk it, you can be recorded and even if you are not targeting you could still have trouble, don't risk it, wait for clear skies.

I have no intentions at all at aiming at aircraft. Last thing I would like to see is footage of myself beaming on the news.
My fear is it happening accidentally.
And yes my laser has the glow material on the regular beam lens!

When you go outside or open your window WAIT, LOOK, and LISTEN sometimes there are planes very high that are hard to see at first.

Now if you are pointing at a star to your left in the open sky and you hear a distant plane over your right shoulder and you turn off your laser then see that a plane appeared over the tree line behind you or off to the side going by at a distance that is not going to be a problem, but if I can see or hear a plane anywhere at all I stop, if one creeps up at the edge of your field of view then turn it off.

Worse case is if a plane appears over the tree line in the direction you were pointing.

This is why I do not hold near the tree line, find open sky and leave a safe margin so you have time to turn it off.

I really prefer 2-3am, that's when there is basically no air traffic, early evening if they are in that holding pattern near me, and they don't always use the same patterns, then I don't even try.

Around holidays it's like grand central station in the skies and just don't even try, otherwise if it's clear leave a safe margin from the tree line so if one appears you can move away and turn it off, but if you listen you can hear them before you can see them.

You have to make sure your beam can not cross their path, and if there are planes in the sky at all then just wait, stay away from the tree line tops, a plane can pop over the tree line.

If a plane is way up there way off to your left and a tiny thing going away and everything to your right is clear, you should be ok pointing in the open to your right, but because I can't depend on anyone having common sense, NO INSULT INTENDED, I have to say if you see or hear any planes don't turn it on.

As for accidents, you must make sure there are no accidents.

Now if you are pointing in clear skies you should hear a plane before it pops over the tree line, but if one at very high altitude appears way off to the edge before you can hear it then just turn your laser off.

Make sure there are no accidents, give yourself time to react and listen.
