No, not other than the odd lens in my 150-200 lens collection, the 3 elements I have a dozen of are actually 31mm when removed from the holder, I call it 25mm because that's what's in the clear when in the holder.

However that 3 element set clips and the further the focus the more it clips as you push it away to focus further out, we need a more aggressive grind, a spherical grind perhaps.

Really just use what we have and the 3 element and sanwu 3X, that RX is pretty good, it blows the 2.5-3.0w NDB7875 away in reach and burning power by far and away.

I would like to see a 25-30mm long FL lens and housing, maybe even an anamorphic primary that is mounted on a can that you screw in until it bottoms out on a threaded ring that you can adjust so that you reshape the beam but leave it positive as far as divergence and then your main lens has a long thread range to tune the focal point.

But this is daydreaming, the average buyer wants a blue one and buys a thor or whatever is 59 dollars on flebay with lots of lies, I have 2 good solutions, #1 use a 3 element and sanwu 3X.....#2 use a G2, 6X Cyl pair and sanwu 3X

If someone would order wider modules and lenses, someone who knows how to calculate the needed grind, I would buy some, I would like to build a ring of 8 or so diodes in heat sinks that are articulated and align them to galvo mirrors that I could converge at a point.

Really a wider housing with a long FL lens and I would just converge a bunch of them, it's how much do you want to spend, the less you can start with the better, maybe soon it will be time to converge a dozen 7875's each with a 3 element, have you tested any, 4 of the 7875's with 3 elements will give a corrected and lensed up 44 a good run for a ways, really a dozen BDR-209's all converged, but any way you go it's 1000 dollars plus, I wish next month we would see an economy projector with 1 big SOB blue diode, I will find some lenses to make that sucker work and we are talking 600 dollars with some possibly repurposable optics.

Sorry I am rambling, go with a 3 ele and 3X, it works pretty good for 0-30 feet, or as a 3rd option you can use a G2 and the 6X cyl pair and leave the BE off, it's nice to have a fixed focus burner that works, that's what a laser should be in my opinion, ready to go as is.

No that's ok, ramble away because the more you do the more I learn !

the only laser I've tried to play with is my Americanised Thor M II which had a M-140 diode and I was trying dif lens which were one of the G2 and a couple of 3 elament lens.

as of right now I'm in the middle of changing the Americanised Thor M II M-140 into a 2 watt M-462 diode.....

Well this laser build is no longer going to be call the "Green Monster", I'm changing hosts to this one !

It can hold 2ea 26650 Li-ion batteries ! Mow Power, Moe Power, Moe power !

I think this is a better looking host, should make a fine build, and one sweet looking unit! Waiting for the unveil. Fingers on the  button. :)

It looks even better with the Intel heat sink installed !

Plus the threads on my host look better than the threads in those stock pictures..........

You know; for sticking a CPU heatsink on the end of a flashlight body, that actually doesn't look too bad. Good on you for being resourceful!

While I'm waiting for parts to show up I'm also reworking my Americanised Thor M II and I'm installing a M462 2.0 Watt 462mn Diode, But the main rework is the battery section which I'm heavily modifying to take 2ea 22650 li-ion batteries which is a big jump up from 2ea 16340 li-ion !

I also have a pair of IJOY 26650 40A 4200mAh Li-ion batteries on their way ! Here is the specs........

The new king of high discharge 26650 batteries is this IJOY 40A battery. This is the best 26650 size battery for high power lights and e-cigarettes and other very high current applications. The voltage drop is very low at high C rates, much better than any other 26650. Until now if you wanted this great battery you would have to order from overseas, but we have them in stock in PA.

•Size: 26650 (26.22mm diameter x 65.11mm length
•Type: Li-Ni (High drain rechargeable)
•Typical capacity: 4200mAh
•Max Continuous Discharge Current: 40A
•Max Pulse Discharge Current: 85A
•Nominal Voltage: 3.7V
•Peak Voltage: 4.2V
•Minimum cut-off voltage: 2.5V
•Protected: No
•Style: Flat Top
•Color: Black and Gold
•Temperature range: Discharge: -20 to +60 Degree Celsius, Charge: 0 to 45 Degree Celsius
•Monthly Self-discharge rate: Less than or equal to 0.5%

Up grading the power with my thor M II, Huge Battery size Ungrade !!!

Interesting idea, that's a heck of a step up. You won't be rechargeing those very often. Thanks for the head up about them being state side I might look into some myself. :thanks:

Nice work, even for a guy with a thumb that bends backwards. Rep when I can.

I've done all the modding with just hand tools and a dermal, A lot of cut, grind, press, And some more cut, grind, And press, Talk about doing it the hard way !

Yea, but that's the fun part, seeing if you can :)

It's a challenge to hold 1 laser in each hand, balanced on the window seal and keep them both on target, I do it but combining 2 diodes would sure make life easier, then we could double wield twice as much. ;)

It's a continuation of making it work, I also build stuff with very few tools, no lathe, no milling equipment, but I can find a way and dual wielding 5W lasers is another way of getting more by finding a way, and it's fun as well as challenging.

But seriously I want a lot more horsepower, lets get our " make it happen " heads together and build some fun hobby toys for our safe enjoyment, that will scare the hell outta the girls.

:lasergun:

Notice in this video how I fumble on the 1st one then I do better, but I do have a little tripod in my way so I can't get my elbows in there as usual.

RCB, some time back I was thinking about a way to make a three headed laser pointer which had cables, or some other kind of mechanism running to each head, if cables, they could pull each head on a swivel to adjust from a close, to a far cross-over point. This would triple the power delivered to one spot. Wanna build that? Might be better just to knife edge all of the beams together, but I thought a cool idea for a laser pointer. EHgemus agreed to build it for me but I kept getting kicked out of the cue by other obligations to the point I cancelled.

I built a triple NDB7875 and had a pair of adjusters to adjust the 2 outside lasers onto the middle one, it works but is not as convenient as a NUBM44 with a 3X BE and gets about the same results, the NUBM44 is about 2.5 times as powerful as a NDB7875 in the real world and the beam size is about the same at 75 feet between a 7875 with a 3 element and a nubm44 with a 3 element and 3X BE.

Three NDB7875' with 3 elements and 2.4a drivers is about 250 dollars while a NUBM44 with a 4.5 amp driver and 3 element + 3X BE is 190 dollars.

So you get about the same result for less money that's a lot less fuss to manage by going with the nubm44 and 3X BE. Now put the other 60 dollars into a 6X CYL pair and you have a better burner all the way around.

Maybe a ring of a dozen NDB7875's with 3 elements in simple articulated mounts like the angle iron swivels I used before with 660nm reds and the total power and ease of simply converging them could save money and build time as 4 x NUBM44's would have to be combined and corrected and both PBS pairs knife edged, only the operation would be easier usless a audrion driven galvo system was used.

I still would like to build a ring of about 24 BDR-209's, but I am really waiting for the next gen projectors, I am hoping for 1 big 40 watt diode.

Also a dozen 7875's and drivers/ect or a quad combined/corrected 44 build are both going to cost well over 1000 dollars, I would rather build a 60w C02 or a 50w, you have to pay attention to the beam spec, sometimes a 50w is much better than a 60w and 100w tubes are too expensive, a 40w or 50w with tight beam specs could be run off a ZVS driven flyback regulated by a DC to DC like that Chinese fellow built, I bought ZVS switches, flybacks, and some DC to DC buck/boost boards but never bought a tube, I'm really hoping for a larger blue projector diode to play with, if it's a GBall then I would have several ways to deal with it keeping the GBall intact.
After all the bright visible beam is part of the fun.
