Once in a while I have to take some time and build one for myself... :D

I love the Stainless Steel 10440 host with the nice chrome pocket clip.

Using a SoShine 10440, which is 400mAh's capacity, I chose to give it what I would consider about max for a decent run time between charges...

Yes I could have pushed it more if I wanted to, but at this setting, I can have probably around 45 minutes between charges...

I like the AixiZ 405 lens best with these diodes. When I first did my 445 lens comparison thread, I used the AixiZ 405 lens. Then contacted AixiZ to see about getting the exact same lens assembly in a full length threaded nut. They got close with their new AixiZ 445 lens. But the AixiZ 405 is a little better. (at least 5% more power)

The only problem, is that it is in a half threaded nut. So you have to glue on the focus rings or adapters...

But still, the AixiZ 445 lens is a good option that has a full length threaded nut for easy attachment of the focus ring or EzFocus adapters...

See here for the Stainless Steel 10440 kit!

Alright you finally got around to building it.

And I did notice the copper module.:D

That's alright mine is still pushing 490mW with the Aixiz 405.:na:

Yeah I copied you...

It's definitely a 'go to' laser.

The one you always reach for when going out and about...

Looks cool!

Anything stainless is cool...

I wonder how that head comes apart? Might have to buy one just to find out...

Always have my two little lasers on me at all times. My 120mW green is on my keychain and the SS 10440 is always clipped to the corner of my pants pocket. Small hosts are key to a good collection.

The heatsinking on this build does amazingly well...

It is a press fit copper module/heatsink that is in very good contact to the 'thick' host. (very thick host for it's size)

I always use a 1 minute duty from being used to that... Usually much less than 1 minute.

It can easily handle more though...

Take a look at the close up pictures of the way it is built here: (except I used a copper module)

Thanks for the link!

Not that I need another laser, but that's impressive power for such a small greenie...

Missed that question.

I use an AW 10440. Peaks at 128mW. I actually have two of these and for $30 you cant beat it. The second tested out at 116mW and one guy in this thread got 134mW if my memory serves.

LPM Test

Chances are good that thing isn't IR filtered. So unless I am mistaken, the LPM reading will be off significantly, especially at that power level. I don't know what the ratio of IR to green output is, but I think it is something like 3:1 with the majority being IR.

Me personally, I sure wouldn't want to be using a 100mW or higher green laser without a IR filter... heck, I wouldn't even want to use a 5mW one without a filter. :tinfoil:

IR can affect LPM only from close, as it is not colimated .. from feet or more there will hardly be any difference.

I've measured IR leakage with 50mW and 100mW O-like modules and it is only about 10% IR.

When metering, the power readings are about 10% less if I let the beam pass through an IR filter before the thermal head...

I wouldn't think it is a problem. It's not like your going to be looking in towards the aperture of the laser while your using it.

Just an opinion though...
