^^^euda, thanks for that adder. while they are hard to construct on the hobby level they are easy enough to purchase. and they are very efficient. i get about 1.5 hours out of mine set at 1600ma

I appreciate the input on this thread form you, but I think it's not a goal to just buy everything and put two wires together, it's more of a goal to explore the science and see what is needed for laser diode to become operable.

So let's stick to the basics and let's not "run before we walk" otherwise somebody could be finding himself pressing "Order" or "Send Money" all over again.

you know, i actually agree with you. i used to preach all the time to start with the lm317 in a project box but, i've gotten used to the " i want it now" attitude. you know what they say/..... if you cant beat them, join them Lol....

Thanks guys you are AWESOME! I can not explain the appreciation i have for you guys trying to set my straight with my build. But i have to agree maybe (absolutely) a 445 was a bit preemptive for my for first build but i want to be able to understand the function and workings under the hood for these builds. With the help of you guys and the support of this community i feel absolutely confident i will be able to bring you guys some awesome builds :)

Thanks guys

Just finished fitting my maglite from using the 10440s with the triple AAA battery holder to 2x 16340s. I had to remove the stock swith circuit and replace it with press fitted tail switch. I also made a battery retaining spacer so that the batteries arent moving around in the laser due to the host being 2xdiameter of the batteries. Below are some pictures of the machined parts to make it all happen ;)

Nice build! The host kind of reminds me of the Krytons, with their barrel shape. +1

Thanks guys really appreciate it! Sorry for not replying sooner, been busy working on some programs for some CNCs and havent been home in time to make any photos with the new modifications out into this host. With it being the weekend i have some free time so you can expect some to be posted in the next day or so. Again thanks for all the nice things said.

Well, before i made the change over from the 10440s to 16340s all the mode selecting was handled by the circuit in the tail clicky but in order to enable it to fit the bigger batteries i had to gut and fit another switch into the tailcap. So the switch itself was what made the modes but I have to say I will take the longer runtimes over the modes it used to have.

With the 10440s I got about ~5-6 minutes of runtime....
