Hello!

I currently own two lasers, one of DealExtremes true 50mw greenie, and a 200mW red from Lazerer.

I was now thinking of getting a blue, and after that a violet so I could have one of each color (of the inexpensive ones).

My budget is around $170-180, but that should include a tripod, charger, batteries, the laser itself, etc. And eventually a pair of goggles (I might add som extra bucks for it).

So - what is a good first death ray? Rayfoss? Lazerer? SurvivalLaser? One purchased from a forum member? Etc. etc.

I really want the output to be high. So yeah.

Thanks!

well you can get most of that for around your price but the tripod.
glasses are also a must for these things.
glasses before laser.
And you saw 1w+ but would you be happy with 1w?
or do you want 1.5W?
you get what you pay for, if you shell out a bit more you can get some of the best lasers around.

And you don't think a 1W is? Just the reflectioon from a 1W laser to the retina would blind you before your blink reflex could kick in.

Do yourself a BIG faor and get the goggles BEFORE the laser.

I already have a pair of goggles.. I just want another pair so my sis can watch to.

And a tripod costs $5 at Dealextreme.

So yeah - what is a good laser for around $160-180?

Build it yourself.
DTR sells nice diodes (already soldered to a driver and set in a module)
Then buy a host a batteries. :) Price ~ $140

If you don't wanna built;
Lazerer and Survivallasers sells pretty good 445nms imo

FYI Got my laser today.Lazerer tested it and sent it out on the 7th August.I received it today the 13th.Not bad at all.considering i live in the UK that was nifty postage..Very pleased with my laser. However it does not have the range like that of my 100mw green.but it burns the hell outta stuff.using 2x 3.7v 16340/RCR123A.
MAX at lazerer had the foresight to put Flashlight on the customs declaration.and that it was a gift.and a value of 20usd..Nice one max.
So i prob avoided import tax and/or inspection.or a risk of it being seized by UK customs.A bonus for you Australians hey! as your customs/boarder agency on imported lasers are very strict.
In conclusion i will buy from Lazerer again but next time i will try for a 500mw green.
Thanks..from another happy customer.

Well, 500mW green would be much more visible.
But imo 445nm looks cooler (and it would burn better)

Ok.Well my 1000mw blue is ok for burning stuff and a nice colour.but im somewhat dissapointed in its range.I wonder if this is due to the focusing lens? i have an old lens and fixture out of a 50mw green and seems to be the size as the one already in the 1w.
But me being me i would probably mess it up or break a component part so instead im going to sell my lazerer 1w laser.and shoot for a higher powered 532nm.
Im looking for $100 usd inclusive of postage if anyone is in the market for one.No batteries or charger included.Otherwise i will post on fleebay.

Im a newbie to lasers.but already im power and range mad.
