Hi!

I just registered but I am reading in this forum for a while now.
With the help of all the information in here I built my very first laser and I would like to show it to you.

It's a 445nm C@$!0 setup with a micro drive set to 1A.
I hollowed out the host and made a chunky heatsink for the module. It runs with one 18650 and works great!
Since I have kids in the house I decided to integrate a lock switch into the host instead of the original clicky switch.

I hope you like it.

Andy

Please edit 'ca si o' in your post to C@$!0, we're trying to avoid as much contact with C@$!0 as possible, mainly because people using their name in stuff and for selling diodes have gotten letters from their corporate office telling them to stop. Nice build btw, and good idea on the keylock, +1. :gj:

Sorry about that! I changed it.
Glad you like it!

I have a quick question...
The thread of the lens insert is very easy to turn... Do you have a trick to get some friction there? a bit Loctite?

Loctite would only lock the lens in place. You could try a bit of teflon tape around the lens, it would make it nice and tight, but possibly too tight. Is it wobbly or just really easy to turn? Teflon tape would most likely help either way. And thanks for editing it out.

find an oring or 2 that fit under the adjuster?there would be resistance and pressure on the threads and the 2 faces but you can turn it over and over unlike tape or locktite.

Nice first build, tons of good info around this site huh? Lots of helpful people too.
Now you gotta get some beam shots up.

Are you using a spring in the aixiz module? If not there's your problem... if so then teflon tape as mentioned above is the next best thing. Great build!

^^^^ i use both teflon tape and the spring. once it was still loose, so i stretched out the spring a little.

Just remember when using Teflon tape to make sure you wrap it in the middle threads of the lens and away from the edges or it could get messy. Usually 1.5 wraps is sufficient. Nice build :)

Thanks for all the responses!

I think we found the issue... for some reason my module did not come with a spring (got it from the bay together with glass lens and diode).

Do you know where I can get a spring for it?

I played with my laser yesterday and here are some beam shots.
This thing is insane...it burns plastic instantly and even cardboard from 6 feet away! It's good that I have a lock on it...

The pictures where taken without any fog.

Next step will be a large focus ring to make adjustment more comfortable.

you don't have to have the spring, if it is too much trouble finding one. just play around with extra wraps of teflon tape. that will tighten it right up.

I found a 8mm spring in my shop that I could make fit. Now it has the perfect amount of friction! Thanks again for the hint!
I also finished the focussing ring... I will post some pictures later.

dude i just noticed that that is the same host i use.. i have a 6x with 3-10440's and a 445 with 1 18650. but as a safety precaution i leav the focusing inside the head. i keep a rubber clicky cap over the lens so that way somebody has to unscrew the head before they can use it.

Hi!

I'm not sure if I understand the thing with the focus inside? Could you show me a picture?

Thanks!
