Hello everyone. I finally got my host in, but i have a problem. I can't seem to get the driver to fit in the driver pill. It is a 17mm linear round moghasm driver, and it is a driver pill from the c6 diy host from Survival Lasers inc. Here is a picture of the driver itself with the leads and a heatsink:

Here is the driver NEXT TO the pill:

And here is how far i get when i TRY to put the pill on. BTW, i am sure i am putting it on correctly, there are no wires in the way, it is the driver board itself that is not allowing me to put the pill on.

Please help! Any solutions? I dont have any fancy equipment so any fix that a comman man could do would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

OH YEA SORRY. I realized what my problem was. I have fixed it and now my driver is in plaace. i am just a little worried it may not work any more because i may have heated it up to much. How can i test if it still works? Because i dont want to assemble my laser and blow the diode, its was $60. Dont want to lase that!

To test the driver you would need a Test Load and then hook it up to the batteries and turn it on and use a Multimeter to measure the current output. However with that giant heatsink you have on it I don't imagine you ruined it.

Lets say i accidentally kept my soldering iron on the solder on one of the contacts for, say, 2 seconds, with the heatsink on, do you think i killed my driver?

Thanks

Does the Driver look melted? That is the only problem I could think of...I have melted a number of drivers in my day, but the contact pads seem to take a good amount of abuse before they give out.

What do you mean melted. There is a thin layer of this brown stuff arounf the contact pad, but i have had this on other soldering projects and they still worked fine. Other than that, the driver look fine.

As long as the components still look the same(no melted solder bridging over components) and no components get red hot and melt, it should be fine. Also we live like 10 minutes from eachother

LOL awesome. Thanks.

One last quiestion, i watched Matthew Ohrenberg's video on his round linear driver. He says that the solder that goes on the LD- pad should touch the pad, and the retaining ring. Is that correct?
