kepatmeretezes_hu_DSC01104.JPG Here's a laser I built for burning stuff. I didn't use a fancy flashlight-looking host. Instead, I used a project box and quite surprisingly everything fits to the bare minimum.

kepatmeretezes_hu_DSC01105.JPG I'm using a 12 battery source running off of 8 ultimate lithium batteries for a 12 volt 2900 mAh power supply.

kepatmeretezes_hu_DSC01106.JPG The driver consists of two lm317 chips. The first one is the volt regulator which regulates 7.5 volts for the second lm317, which limits the current to 1.25 amps with a 1 ohm resistor. Well, here's the downside, the lm317s heat up by excess voltage which makes it a bit inefficient. But I'd rather have power capacity over efficiency. Besides, popping in Ultimate Lithium AA batteries gives the laser about 2 1/2 hours of use.
