Alright,
Well my diode came in today, and I had to put it together right away.

I just completed it about 20 minutes ago.
This thing is bright! and the color is amazing! (especially since I have never seen any other laser colors besides red and green in person)

I cant wait for tonight. I am going to take some night time beam shots, as long as it doesn't rain.

I would like to add that this C3 host package by Jayrob is awesome. Very good build quality. :)

I do not have a LPM, but the driver was preset by Jayrob at 400mA.
I am using the Aixis 405-G-1
It should be around 300-350mW

Now for the pictures....
I just took these pictures with a lot of light in the room, all the window shades open. No fog or smoke was added to these pictures at all....

The camera tends to make the blue look a little more purple in the lights.

Here is a comparison shot between my new 445nm and my 150mW Green.
The beam on the 445 easily competes with the beam on my green laser.

Here I am shooting down my basement stairway. No lights, but still no fog or smoke.

How is the burning power.
Can it burn white paper?
10feet?
20feet?
Can you take night shots of the green next to the 445 please.:thanks:
Thanks.

Nice pictures!

Glad you like the kit...

I built a 445 last night at 448mA and was expecting more power. But only got 262mW's. So I got a lower efficiency diode this time...

It should have been over 300mW's with a 405-G-1...

But that said, 262mW's in a tiny little build is plenty good! :)

Thanks.

I haven't tested the burning yet....

And I will def. take some night shots of both the green an blue side by side. :)

@ jayrob,

Thanks a lot!
I saw the post of your C2 build,
It looks nice... :D:)

Its a bummer that you got a diode with lower efficiency. Makes me wonder how efficient the diode I got is.

It doesn't really matter though, this thing is plenty bright.... and I don't plan on doing much burning or anything.

I though people were bringing these close to an amp?

Is there any pictures that shows the true color? All the ones I've seen look like 405nm.

Yea but this host is reaaally tiny.
And I don't really want mine that powerful.

I am going to try and mess with my camera some more and see if I can get it to capture the true color.

Kind of weird, my cell phone camera captures the true color better than my canon 450D....

People are pushing them yes, but not in a small build. Need an 18650 for the higher output...

Dave took some pictures that shows what it looks like...

Pretty close to exactly what you see:

But his pictures enhance the beam brightness. And blueness too...

May I ask what pinout the diode has? I remember seeing a picture showing the connections but I cannot seem to find it! That and I gotta leave for work.......But anyways, What pins on the diode is + and - ? All I remember is the middle-right pin is not used.

I really like that host... great job!
:gj:

Thanks a lot! :yh:

One thing weird that I noticed with my 445nm is that the dot is very blue, and the light exiting the focus lens is very blue.... but the beam looks close to purple. Has anybody else noticed this? I am wondering if the purple look to the beam goes away at higher powers.....

very impressive. I wish I had the funds to do the same build, I love that host. Mine will be a labby, and possibly even a shabby labby. LOL
How much is jayrob selling those hosts for? Is that using the aixiz glass lens for 405nm diodes?

I'm looking forward to trying my hand at photographing 445nm beams. I've got a lot of experience with photography and should be able to get some nice shots to contribute to the forum - fingers crossed.

Thank you :):thanks:,

Jayrobs post for this host is here: http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/fs-stainless-steel-c3-kit-51356.html

He lists all his options and prices on that page

--------------------------

I took a few more pics real quick. I was in a hurry and I didn't have time for the tripod, so excuse the quality.

This is pretty much the exact color that I see this as. Except in real life the dot is very blue, the camera makes the dot look purple. But my beam does have a tint of purple, like the pictures show.

I really love this laser.....
But I am curious of the color....
Some other peoples pictures look way more blue than my laser does....

The dot on my laser is a very very bright TRUE blue, but my beam is closer to purple than blue, everyone at my house agrees with me.... kinda weird.
Can anyone else confirm this?

Those are some nice pictures! I can't wait until I get my host parts, I do not have any spare parts to run my diode it in my heatsink, but with patients comes great rewards!:)
