For me the 445nm looks like a blue spot, the beam outdoors at night looks blue. Indoors however the beam looks violet.

Is looks perfectly blue to me. 405nm looks blue on white paper, but on most white surfaces it's annoying purple, judging from the comments after holding a presentation with a 405nm pointer.

This blue on white is due to flourescence. :)

For me its 50/50. The dot is blue, but beam, and refection are more on the violet side. I was expecting a sapphire blue, but was pleasantly surprised by the violet tones. It Fluorescence of my ceiling and baths the whole room in violet/blue halo effect. The only bad thing is it really strains the eyes. You can only look at it for a minute at a time.

Isn't that problem of power ? My current 445 is around 100mW and it's pleasant to look at. Green 100mW is not so pleasant, but as we are more sensitive to green, it looks much more brighter, and also you can focus on it better.

I took my new portable 445nm ~700mW Laser outside
last night to see the color and shape of the beam..
In the shop it looks Blue to me... but outside it looked
Purple almost like a 405nm Blu-Ray...
I was expecting more of a Blue like in the shop...

It depends on the power of the 445 as well. The more higher powered the laser is, the more blue it looks.

Ok lets get scientific here.

Bellow is a picture of mine. It is also exactly what it looks like in real life to me both indoors and out. Does this picture appear purple or blue to you? also is it the same color as your laser is to you? Im wondering if there is a visual difference between diodes or if peoples percieve the same color differently (yes I know monitors will all be calibrated differenty. Hope you have a decently calibrated monitor with 8bit or better color production. It looks the same between my work 8bit MVA and my 10bit S-IPS panel at home)

Yep, I don't see that lol. I see pure blue to aqua to white at the center. Closest thing I see to violet is at the far right edge where its mixing with evening sunlight coming through my window.
