@ styropyro looks like you are using a computer PSU, what driver are you using and current and power in that video........Good video by the way :)

I was using a homemade LM317 driver with a 1ohm resistor so 1.25A. And yeah I was using a computer PSU, I love those things. :D

My second batch of blue pictures...Only a few this time, instead of a whole fricken webpage :D

My room was a TINY TINY bit smoked from a candle, the beam brightness was enhanced, but to the human eye, just by a little. To the camera, Oh, plenty!

If this one is the norm, instead of the oddball, then these diodes, when properly cooled, can handle 1.5A for days on end with very little degradation.

445nm laser diode

Though I know on my builds, at least air cooled ones, i'll likely stay below 1A. I like my lasers to have looooong lives, heh. And I can't imagine high temperature thermal cycles from running them at extremely high currents in a pointer does the diodes any good either, even if it doesn't obviously harm them in the short run.

Lol, I just found out the microboost can do 1.2A, so I'm upping the current later :D I might even add adjustable output control if I feel like working for a while.

Nice Beam Shot with Smoke. :D

I was just messing around with some smoke last night.:) It looked really KOOL when i would blow some smoke onto the beam so i figured i would record it and it came out pretty good. Especial at 1 minute in.:D

Thanks for watching. :D

Edit:
New video July 11, 2010

Just made another video Lighting some match's, cutting through electrical tap and Burning multiple times through a black CD Case. I was really surprised at 520ma with a G1 lens how fast it was burning through the CD case.:) I wish i had a meter to test the mW iam saving up for a laserbee one right now i really like them.:) Also my new host for this diode should be here on Monday so i will bump it up to 1050mA with the AMC7135 Driver. Oh and this is an A-130 diode if anyone is curious.

Thanks for watching.:D

Are the lenses taken from the projector, glass or acrylic, and if they are glass, do they fit an aixiz housing?

The lenses are glass. You could fit them into an aixiz brass lens housing.
Jayrob did this, just search for the 445nm lens comparison thread.
The projector lens has a bad output tho..

I am waiting for a good foggy night to get some sick beam shots. They are pretty nice as is but with fog it would be amazing.
