The lines are more pronounced than produced by either of my M140s but they appear normal to me. It is likely just a slight variation of the diode.

Power has decreased to about 30 mw
Everything has been to cut the wires and re-solder the diode. :cryyy::cryyy:

what current is it at?

1500ma

It worked perfectly until I decided to cut the wires because they were too long.
From there, the laser emits very little light now. I used to have to wear goggles.
I guess the diode has received some electrostatic discharge and therefore this also.

If. I'm afraid so.

With the crisis we have in Spain, decided to spend some money that cost me a big winner in a laser ...
Now I have a burned diode :banghead: :cryyy: :cryyy:

Possibly not... ;) You said you cut the wires & re attached them, is it connected solid, try tapping the soldering iron quickly & melting it again, also make sure there isn't like 1-2 strands of wire, make sure it's ALL hooked up :)

Definitely this burned.
The diode becomes very hot with hardly emit light.

Okay then. yea well if it gets hot it's indeed a LED. sorry about your loss :( I have lost many 445s during my journey in lasers :) Others have burnt hundreds..

Is it possible after the wires were cut and you were working on shortening them the driver may have been inadvertently powered without a load even for the briefest of time? If so the cap may have charged and spiked the diode when you went to reconnect it.:(

Well guess you should just buy a new diode :(

Maybe you'll get lucky and get a freak one :D
