Damn guys I can't see the embedded pictures, my wireless ISP blocks off incredible amount of sites.
Can somebody post links to them instead of embed code? Perhaps I can reach them through UltraSurf.

No its still worked fine after that. It was until I dropped it that it had the issue. I have used it hours since then.

That may be true but it may have weakened it to the point that a drop could show permanent damage. I have done that run experiment with my own and it shows no signs of damage either but the two together could be contributory.

Can you see this one Eud?

Has that Even after complete cooling? Its showed no signs of artifacts or anything...:/

Sorry, I didn't understand this part.

Mine shows no artifacts or anything either. You'll forgive me if I don't drop my laser to find out if it's weakened as well but multimode diodes can have some parts fail whilst others continue to lase. That's what it looks like to me but...

... At the moment it's not clear what's up. If the window is intact, (it can't be the lens as that output you show is without one), then I'm not sure what can be causing it electrically. I say it's a damaged diode. Not LEDed but damaged. Replacing it and examining it under magnification will likely show more but I'm fairly certain it ain't gonna heal itself.

Extract and replace I think.

Yeah I figured.. I meant

Is that possible even after it cooled?

Has anyone ever seen that pattern before?

I had a similar thing happen yesterday. I had a module stuck in a heatsink. Same 445nm diode. It was working fine before I Pounded the module out of the heatsink. Afterward however the diode only put out 20mW and not all "lines" of it's output were shining. Sounds like the same thing happened to your diode. Something happens when heavy shock is applied to these diodes. Wish I knew what that something is but I don't. Just replace the diode.

That pattern is displayed at lower currents and with "zombies" (damaged diodes)

It shows that not all of the emitters are lasing

I see it, Morgan, thanks. Toaster, it's actually the normal emitting pattern of 445nm diodes. Will upload picture , very crappy internet right now. Might not be back today.

EDIT - Other guys beating me to it. Never mind I guess.

SO hey, I turned it on again and it had that pattern then it went SUPER dim then bright for a tiny bit and now its stuck SUPER dim...

Its dead, huh?

As Dave has said, these are patterns that can be shown at low current. The fact that yours jumped in output and has fallen again may suggest a short somewhere. If it is not clear just where that may be happening, and as you may have to dismantle the laser anyway to replace the possibly defunct diode, then the obvious thing here would be to test what you can with a DMM and then strip it down and rebuild it. If the diode doesn't return to full strength once you're sure all connections and everything else is sound, then you can replace the diode.

Photos of the dismantling may help identify something that may be obvious to the forum but not so obvious to you. Even if it works, we'd still like to see how you went about the build as I don't remember seeing a review.

I've seen it with a bluray (phr) diode once. Very odd since this is supposed to be a single mode diode, but this particular one had about half of its output pattern 'missing'. Initially this flickered on and off sometimes, but eventually stopped working. Not long after the entire diode died.

I don't know what caused it though, could be both electrical and mechanical. I hadn't used that laser for a while, but did move it around and perhaps it rolled off a table or something - i don't quite remember. The failure presented itself when i put some batteries in a wanted to play with it again.
