Completely normal when you completely defocus the laser.

Bubbles are imperfections in the die or optics.

if you had a higher quality lens, say glass AR coated or G2, would there still be imperfections such as these?
or would there be minimal "bubbles"?
:thanks:

^^^You would still see some artifacts. Defocused you would see a rectangle with somewhat rounded sides, wish splash around that.

A better lens is always... better... but you will find imperfections like that with all lasers.

Basically with an aixiz or g1, you will see a long rectangular shape to the dot. Sometimes a larger much rectangle around that.

Don't worry about it.

Here, Dave did a very nice sticky on this a while back: http://laserpointerforums.com/f65/there-something-wrong-my-beam-spot-59400.html

The 445 diode creates a rectangular shaped dot because it's a multimode diode, and the imperfections appear from my experience to be contaminants on the lens, possibly from being touched while it was installed...

I don't think it's only from the diode window/lens, or from being touched. If that were the case a decanned diode with a perfect aixiz or g1 lens would produce an ideal rectagle. Some of the imperfection has to come from the die.

Some of the cloud around the 445 is from imperfection, the lens I was referring to was the collimating lens :p

Using a qtip is not a good idea for cleaning lenses. Depending on the coating you can damage it.

Qtips also leave behind fibers, and using only a qtip does not remove contaminants, but just pushes them around.

A lens cleaning kit is best. If that's not at hand, rubbing alcohol, or acetone, and a lint free mircrofiber cloth would work best.

Well i try to clean the lens with a small piece of microfibre with special degreaser for electronic, and after dry with clean air, and i go to ignit the rifle, but bubbles are here again...:yabbem:
Not a problem of dirt  then surely imperfections...

Focus it to infinity and don't worry about it:p

ok thanks for the advice but ive seen allot of people recommend qtip and acetone. looks like i need to invest in a lens cleaning kit any recommendations?

My lens cleaning kit consists of 91% isopropyl alcohol and a whole bunch of microfiber lens cleaning cloths I picked up a long while back on meritline, or dx, to me honest I don't remember:)
