Hello

I want to know why the blue lasers are generally more powerful and expensive than moin green lasers. What is the difference? is it better to take a 300mw green laser 1w or blue? thank you

Default Re: informations

The green laser is a lot more complex to build; it uses a solid state pumping for generating green light - a highly inefficient process.
Blue lasers have been made common by the DLP projectors manufacturers; a projector have more than a single diode... Some time ago most had 24 diodes inside, each capable of ~1.5W (!!!)

The green hits almost the peak of eye sensibility, so a single mW of green can be as strong as five mW of blue.
So 300mW green, being more expensive (considering you're talking about a reputable company selling these) would be more bright and would have a smaller divergence (which is desirable).
The blue, with a big divergence in one axis, would rely on its power to maintain long-range visibility.

People have been spoiled by the power... both are bad ideas if you never had a laser before...

No more than 5mW if you've never owned a laser before... any laser over 5mW will permanently damage your eyes.

Green is much brighter to our eyes than blue, and green lasers have better beam quality than blue lasers.

It really depends on what you want to be able to answer your question

ok thank you for the explanation. I already possesses a laser protective eyewear. I made very careful when using. you think it would be better than a green laser blue

My use would be astronomical, and I want a visible beam in daylight. so the green would be more appropriate.

The site laserbtb is good or not ?

Yes, laserbtb are some of top quality lasers.
There will be Group buys going on soon here in LPF. Maybe you can get more power for less $$$$$

Not sure what section they put the GBs in. Try the front page and look around. Me I just hit 'New Posts' about 50 times a day so I can snoop on everything.

Really you need a lot of education to understand things laser---eveything is possible in imagination not so in real world.

No not outdoors in full daylight--you can never compete with the sun.-even a 1000mw 532 green---maybe in a daylight lit room if you get a 1.5 W 532 green lab type ---very powerful and extremely dangerous laser. To quote one experienced member " 10W of laser power, while a lot, still isn't spectacular. A clear air visible outdoor daylight beam will take you probably 100W+ of 532nm.. Much more at 445nm. " post #10 here: List of 1W and higher laser diodes?

Seeing a beam at all depends upon atmosphereic conditions--particles in the air reflecting---in a vacuum there is no beam--but that is a whole different and complicated topic

see: For the "daylight visible" is very very difficult, at least 1.5W green laser. It's a lab laser and very expensive

If you are new to lasers/without a lot of laser experience, you should not buy such a powerful laser anyway--you could end up blind from a minor reflection or hurt someon else. Not toys.

OK I understand your reaction, but I'm not a child and I'm not stupid as to leave me a full 300mw laser sight.

I have a budget of up to $ 200 so I would not buy anything.

and I understand that with a laser under 1.5 2w see it will see it in full day.

Is the green laser 300mw and more dangerous than the blue laser 1w?

here is relative brightness of 300mw 532nm and 1000mw 445nm
Beam: (532nm 300mw) vs. (445nm 1000mw)

300mw is less dangerous then 1000mw ---both can cause instant eye damage

yes right

here is a 300mw 532 green for $200 LZCR - 532nm 300mW High Power DPSS Green Laser Pointer --- duty cycle is no more than 3 minutes on followed by at least 1 miunte off to avoid damge to laser

here is a much better 300mw 532 for $249 longer duty cycle much better quality. http://jetlasers.org/equality-series...no/power-300mw
