Default Indentifying DLP and M140 diodes

Hi,

This is my first post - be gentle on me! I am just starting my first build after a month or so of reading this forum and checking components available from the various specialist suppliers. I am an electronics engineer and work extensively with LED's and the manufacture of LED lighting equiment. However Laser is a whole new and exciting world for me!

I have just recieved three diodes from a supplier rgb-lab in China. I have 2 x DLP extracts and 1 x M140. They have arrived packed in antistatic bags but with nothing to identify which type is which. I cannot see any physical difference between the three diodes, despite closely checking them under a magnifying glass.

Is there any way to tell which is which? Or will I be able to see any difference in the beam if I power them up (in suitable host/heatsink) at say 1A? Or have I been taken for a ride and they are all from DLP projectors?

I knew I'd make a goose of myself in my first posting! Thanks janbder6442 for pointing me in the right direction. I saw that "sticky" but originally passed over it not realising that was comparing the M140 with the "DLP" diodes. Fast learning curve!.

Interestingly, all three diodes that I have recieved had the little circle next to the square code, larger die, and appear to have four die wires and not three.
So I guess that I have recieved 3 x M140 LED's, instead of the 1 x M140 and 2 x "DLP extract" 1W that I was expecting.

Cheers,

Jon

How much did you pay for each one? Also, yes, the M140 only has 3 pins so if all of your's have 4, then that is definitely not it.

I paid $45.99 for 2 pcs 1W, and $52.99 for 1 pce M140.

I wasn't referring to the number of pins on the TO-18 can in my posting, but the internal gold wires bonded to the internal die that you can just see though the window.

Appears all three device recieved seem to be M140 ???

Ah okay. Haha I thought you meant the number of pins lol. In the future I would highly recommend buying your diodes from DTR's laser shop located HERE. I'm not sure what is policies are on international orders, but he is a standup guy with great prices, high quality products, and excellent customer service.
