Recently I ordered a 9mm 445 with the stock lens included...though I am waiting on some parts for that specific build I decided to extract the stock lens and test it with my Cree xml M140 laser.
I got some interesting results.
I knew the diode was good from the start a few weeks ago but wasn't sure until today.
with a 1.8A driver(I tested before soldering 1.79A) w/ three element lens I measured 1879mW.
AND w/ the G9 I peaked at 2247mW (19.58% gain)

AndrewB did an excellent lens review here.
(it dropped just a little as I was trying to take the pic and hold the laser at the same time)

Also this laser stays VERY cool, I had it on for at least 50-60seconds and it was only alittle warm.
I am compairing this laser to 3 other M140s I have owned and this is the only one that performs in this manner. It might not be the most efficient diode~ I saw BLORG get 3W @ 2A but its great for me.

2.2W with a G9 isnt a freak by any means. I had a M140 that did 2.16W with a 3 element and if you look in my sig at the groove, it does 2.65W on a 3 element as well. You do have an above average M140 but not the freakiest of freaks ;)

EDIT: both driven at 1.8A as well so its not due to more current

First laser I was talking about, which has since made its way to a new owner in Singapore ;)

Dont have a graph of the Groove yet, waiting to get my full set complete and doing all the graphs and reviews as one thread. Just ran it with a quick no graph test when I got it.

Still in the upper 80% I would venture to say, but hey why even post it since you have already cornered the market in freak diodes lol.

Never letting the groove go. Ive been meaning to put the G2 and G9 on it for tests but haven't got around to it with the surgery. I have been dang lucky on M140s. Bought 3 and got the following; 1.6W, 2.16W & 2.65W. I don't want to buy any more and ruin that upward trend

The OP has a nice M140 for sure and not trying to knock it at all

2.16W and 2.65W with a 3 element lenses are impressive diodes. Ok maybe mine isn't quite FREAK statues but its a good one. I'm happy it's a healthy diode because its in a small(ish) host with an aluminum heatsink.

Photo of the laser itself? Cree XML host sounds like 1 of 10,000 hosts! Thats such a common mark on flashlights so interested to see what it really is :D

See I would have NEVER guessed that host. Its that bronze color right?

I like that host & color, I get the flashlights off ebay for cheap and I even kept a couple for LED flashlights. For $13 with battery and charger it's not bad. Although after I saw the post about the ultrafire batteries I'm a bit nervous to use the ones that come with the host.

Yeah all those cheap lights come with crap batteries! The lights are normally good though, nice budget lights but NEVER trust the stated lumen. Any XM-L listed over 1000 lumen you should question. Yes a XM-L will do over 1000 lumen under the right conditions but those budget lights normally dont have the right drivers, heat sinking, etc..... Thats why most list them at 1000 or 1200 lumen but really do 500-600. The average human has never seen that many lumen so they are blown away. For the price they are great lights, if you want crazy lumen they you are looking at a modded monster and over $100. Mvn does like 2500 lumen

Yeah I am a laser and lumen freak if you couldnt tell ;)

It's a great budget light Are you a member on that forum?
I don't collect LED lights but I do have a Streamlight-protec that Puts out 155 lumens. I like it.

Which forum BLF or CPF or CPFMP........ill make it easier, im on all three ;)

Great host. I like the colour on it.

It's amazing how LEDs and laser have progressed in recent years. I used to be active on CPF about 8-9 years ago. Back then there was no mega lumen flashlights. All we had was luxeon 3s and 5s. And 100mW 532nm green laser was as rare as 488nm these days...and forget about 450nm blue... It was rarer than blue moon.

Well that's a disappointment :(....I got that 9mm build done today and when metered with the G9 lens it puts out barely 2.5W. I was hoping for at least 2.9-3W oooo wellll

What you running it at?

FYI if you put the lens in backwards it really hurts the output
