Ok, having sorted my 532 labbie, I have moved towards getting 445 and 650 modules together for my projector build. I picked up a 6x Blue Ray, 1W 445 and 2 x 650's in Axiz modules from Kendal.

Today I mounted the 445 in a big block of ali (universal abbreviation) and built an LM317 current regulator set at 930mA. All I can say is wow! How dangerous are these things! I burnt by finger focusing the sucker...

This setup is not my final build, rather I am just experimenting and wanted to see her run. I am yet to source a good driver with analog modulation. Anyone recommend a good driver?

I'll post some pics and maybe video later.

The parts, the ali, all from my junk bins! I drilled and tapped M3 holes to mount the vero board, reg and join the heatsink block to the base. A recessed M3 screw secures the Axiz module. Arctic silver on the reg, module and block/base.

It has been running for an hour now, not even warm! Running 10VDC.

Cheers.

Yeah i used to use Vitreous wirewounds in my high current PSU's as emitter decoupling resistors..the punishment they could take was astonishing, when mounted on ceramic insulators of course :)
