Has anyone ever tested a 405nm for this purpose? They burn anything with a fraction of the power of a 445nm but not sure about going through water with one.

I would think 405 would be absorbed less than 445 nm (See chart I posted above). (Better penetration through water, an advantage)

I'm not sure of the trade off between how much power a 445 can be used with vs a 405, and the final energy able to be applied though....in that the 405 might burn with less power, but, the 445 can run at a much higher output to start with, potentially making it the better overall choice.

As in, a 10 watt 445 might out burn a 1 watt 405, etc...because a 10 watt 405 might be impractical, etc.
