Default Help with fried driver

I was using my 1.2w laser the other day and it suddenly turned off. So i decided to take the module out of the heatsink and take a look-see.

sorry for low quality pics

As you might be able to see one of the IC's is burnt. I am curious if i get another driver might the diode be shot too?
Thanks in advance!

Default Re: Help with fried driver

I'm surprised no one has replied yet to your question...

That fried IC in the first pic appears to be the current regulator chip. I've had one of those go out on me before, without damaging the diode. But that was a new build, virgin diode, and other different factors.

If the diode was hit too, you won't know until you replace the driver. At that point you can tell if it's still a laser or an LED.
