Hey guys, hope everyone is doing good... It's been a while!

Just thought I would pop on here and share what I just purchased - (I had an eBay voucher that knocked money off)

That's the only reason I went for this.

High Power 445nm Focus Visible Blue Beam Laser Pointer Pen Boxset with 5 Caps | eBay

Now I know these are not much good, but it's just for a bit of fun. We all love lasers right?

It was shipped on the 26th - the tracking now says " The item ( RB********HK ) left Hong Kong for its destination on 28-Sep-2014"

I live in the UK, but one thing that worries me is the batteries shipped with the laser? ...

I'm not expecting much.

I wanted to share anyhow :D

Its ok i guess, but dont expect it to be of that great quality who knows, those things hardly have any quality checks..

 I guess we will soon find out.

I checked the tracking a few days ago and it said the following: " RECEIVED IN UK HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC "

This was on the 29th of September... It's still the same as I type (01/10/2014)

... For the life of me, I can't remember if "RECEIVED IN UK HEATHROW WORLDWIDE DC" actually changes once the package is on it's way via Royal Mail or if it stays that way until delivered.

If anyone knows if it changes once it's left the hands of "HWDC"

Let us know!

Still no change in tracking...:thinking:

Seems to be stuck in HWDC since the 29th of Sep.

I wonder if it's because the batteries with the laser?

As long as lithium batts are in a case I'm pretty sure they are fine, but it is a key item they look for at customs, usually customs will find the batts and nab your laser (If its illegal to import lasers) I've bought 18650s from Deal Extreme and they shipped them in those cheap plastic cases, came here fine and aussie customs are INSANE.

Pretty sure they have to go by sea if you have lithium batteries but I'm not too sure. Just forget about it then its a big surprise when it comes :D

If the UK post is anything like the USPS it can take awhile to clear. It took the USPS a week to get my CNI 589nm through customs at JFK. To say I was sweating bullets is an understatement.

Hi everyone, here is an update

The laser arrived at 8:30am this morning (9 days after I ordered it from Honk Honk to UK)

It's advertised at 1000mW 1 watt 450nm more like 445nm

Quick pic:

Will be making some videos with it over the weekend (hopefully) Just feeling a little under the weather at the minute

Just to add, the sticker claims 1000mW but --

The module is stamped with date 25/08/2014 and claims 1.6W

I added pics, also took a few driver shots for anyone who's interested.

Module stamp:

Pictures shot with my iPhone, so not the best.

Reiterate the "Be safe" and watch it on the run time as the heat-sinking tends to be crappy the lower the $ so you really have to respect the duty cycle. Too many people blow their units with long run times. The 405nm Lazerer 704mw (was supposed to be 500mw) I have listed was only around $100 when I bought it but the heat-sinking is very poor and that's why it had a bad rep for blowing diodes. Enjoy;)
As far as the driver, that pot sure is tempting. Not going to recommend messing with it as it is likely to already be adjusted for max output.
Guess it wasn't too difficult to get the module out of the host. Doesn't seem to be any residue on the threads or anything.

Yep I don't run it no longer than 20 seconds, you don't really need to.

Just to add, the batteries included seem to drain fast... around 10-15 mins that's light use with the included batteries, duty cycle on for 15-20 seconds off for around a 1-2 minutes or so (roughly) it's so much better with my Efest batteries.

It's great for burning stuff too, lights candles within 15-20 seconds when focused - easier than my Artic 2watt... ?

(I can't test it's actual power because I don't have a LPM)

But comparing to my Arctic and my other 1-2watt laser it's just as powerful if not more actually. If we compare light through 2 Pairs of glasses at once (not the ones included with this laser), kinda awkward but I did try it and most of the light is blocked - all though this is very boring it's safe. (I love the beam)

The included charger and glasses do work, although they may not be any good. As we all know.

The pot: I'm no screwdriver doctor, so I wouldn't even touch it.

As for the threads, the main thread where the laser cap screws on does have that (grey colored stuff on the threads) unsure what it's called? they screw together very nicely too.

The module gets slightly warm of course, just like my other 445nm lasers, so I'm guessing it's doing the job.

I'm well happy with the laser for the price, it does more than I expected.

I will be making some videos on it this weekend -

if anyone would like to see any more pics or something in particular on this laser, just leave a reply I'll be happy to help.

Another thing I wanted to ask

If anyone reading this sells LMP's or knows someone on here that does please let me know, I'm looking for one I have tooooo many lasers, I'm missing a LPM.

I know they cost a lot but I need one, so please let me know if you have one for sale.

Of course I'll pay the full costs for it to be shipped to me in the UK too.
