Default First Documented Build =)

Hello Ladies and Gents, this will be my first attempt at documenting and posting a build of mine. I have been visiting this forum for quite awhile but only recently got the courage to document one of my builds and post it here. Not because I am shy but the fact I am terrible at any type of story telling and writing was where I placed last in any type of academia. So about a month ago I finally made an account and today after I noticed I have probably sent 300 emails to DTR I thought it was time to give him a break. I am fond of simplicity so I have chose survival lasers unmarked stainless steel host with a M140 diode from DTR powered by an adjustable 1.6-2.3a buck driver.

Everything laid out to begin the build

Now Ive taken the driver and popped it in the small copper ring that came with pill and soldered it up. Doesnt show in the picture but I took a spare lens spring cut it in half and soldered it in the middle for the positive contact.

Next I used hand pressure to push it a little into the pill and took my pliers to push it all the way in flush.

I forgot to take a couple pictures here and there of steps but I am sure after doing this a few times I will get the hang of it. In this picture I have already pressed the M140 diode into the module. The diode press tool is a definate not only to not damage anything but it just makes it so much easier.

Next I have hooked up a dummy load to make sure it works and to fine tune the mA. DTR recommended 1.8 and my hands just were not steady enough to adjusting it so 1.79 works for me =)

So now that I have tested everything out, I did test the diode just forgot to take a picture of that part. I do have the tube extension that goes with it but I like it better short so I opted for 2 16340 batts. Sad part is I only have them in non rechard but hopefully by wednesday I will have some new ones. The manager at the batteries plus near me <Tampa Fl.> put me under a commercial account which did give me a pretty good discount.

And now a beam shot
http://laserpointerforums.com/attach...1&d=1394524977

I also have a 9mm 445 and I really prefer the beam on this guy. I put my safety glasses over my phone to capture the dot, if you look through the doorway towards the top you can see a nice small dot.

So, there you have it, my first documented build, and really my first build where i soldered most everything. Now for shoutouts

DTR- definately the man - He has replied to all my emails no matter how dumb they are and always been extremely helpful, I couldn't of gotten where I am without him.

Survival laser- Gary is great- I really do have to give him big props, I have been ordering from them for about a month now and I couldn't figure out why the LPF code wasn't working, so when I finally brought it up to him he asked me to figure out what I have spent recently and let him know, needless to say it was no small amount and he gave me a coupon code for the amount I would have saved. If that isn't customer service then I do not know what is.

Hopefully this didn't bore you guys to much and I really appreciate you taking your time to read my post. I am always open to suggestions and helpful criticism. Also I have more plans for this little guy, tomorrow or shortly after I will be taking my airbrush to it for some custom paint and I will post photos of that soon. I have also done some custom hosts on CAD here this past couple weeks and I have finally got my lathe set up so I am hoping my next build will be built from the ground up by me, really excited. Again, thank you guys for reading

Jeremy

Nice 1st documented build Korpxx! Everything on your workbench is layed out so neatly, it looks ready for the O.R.
Great choice of a host, S.L.'s stainless host with a copper h.s. is classic. Although, looking at your bench, it looks like you've visited Survival Laser more than once.

Can't wait to see the custom hosts! If you don't mind me asking, what type of lathe do you have?

+1

The guys. Ya I'm fond of the size and look and they have treated me well. But I really hope to be making my own soon. I am waiting on some copper and aluminum bar. I have even played around with some handheld sealed system water cooling just waiting on actual product before I can materialize. Again thx for reading
