Hey guys, I recently just finished a 445nm build. Of course I bought my module from DTR. It's his M140 445nm boost drive and glass lense. I made a heavy heat sink for the diode and driver, Then was fortunate enough to get some free shwag from a sales rep pushing Mitsubishi carbide inserts and included in the goodie bag was a tiny little led flashlight. So I punched out the guts and machined my heatsink to suit. I'm running a cr17345 camera battery and it seems pretty stable, no idea what mW I'm getting but she looks pretty good. Thank you DTR! It's nothing amazing (the host not the module) but I like it size. Thanks for looking http://laserpointerforums.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Thanks man. It's almost impossible not to. Not a bad laser for $80! (total cost of everything)

Is that a former 9-LED Flashlight?

Very nice, now it's actually useful.

Have fun and be safe! (the two are not mutually exclusive!)

It was a VERY cheap 9 led lol. And yes, as always safety first!! Thanks.

Gotta love those useless cheapo LED flashlight repurposing builds. Give new life to an otherwise sad device. You did a good job making it look legit and doing so on a budget. What kind of driver are you running?

Lol, somehow I missed that. You should be able to get some good power out of that. I am glad to see that you said you heatsinked the driver as well otherwise that could cause issues.

Thanks guys!! I appreciate the comments. The first thing i did was unscrew the back of the module and used alluminum pieces to transfer the heat off the driver. I would say 60% of this build is heatsink. I even made an aluminum sleeve for the battery. The only thing I don't like is it says Mitsubishi on the side. lol

Nice ! I used that host too, but just for direct-drive ..
You can always at least measure current over the on the batter .. just unscrew and use current-meter instead of switch to connect batter and case .. If the driver is known, at least some estimate to power could be made.

Well I would check but she led'd on me. Not sure why, But she's definitely done. I'm not sure if I'm going to bother spending the money on a new diode. This hobby is starting to get too pricey. I'm going to take some time to think about it, It may just come down to me giving this module away, We'll see I guess.

Under further inspection, I don't think my diode is led'd, Although the output in barely noticable it isn't getting hot and is definitely still laseing. It will send that dim little dot across the room. Also the drive smells burnt. I think i fried the driver. Looking back at all the steps, I was putting batterys in my pointers to submit a pic to the "show your rainbows" thread. All my pointers are case positive... See where this is going... Yep I put the battery in backwards. Shitty.

Awe man sorry to hear that. You could always grab a bare AtMa from DTR and try that. Or send it to someone willing to test it for you(i don't mind helping out).
