Hi everyone!

I wanted to build a very small, very high output 2x series 10440 IMR cell 445 burning laser. So I asked Ehgemus if he would be up for it. What I got was a host that wasn't quite as thin as I had hoped.

Turns out it's practically impossible to fit drivers and clickies in a host that wraps tightly around tiny 10440 (AAA size) cells. So... the host that I ended up with is an 18mm outer diameter BEAUTY that turns out to fit 2x14440 (or 2x14430) size cells, as well as these IMR10440's that I already have.

It turned out better than my original plan! Going any smaller than this 18mm diameter probably results in a much more difficult construction and assembly, with the clicky probably being the most problematic. And I wouldn't have any clicky other than these Ehgemus clickies.

Don't be offended, but I think you should have a less advance build for your first couple of tries.

You should have done a couple PHR or LPC builds first to good some good habit forming skillz then gone to the build you have here.

The pic of the diode after it pressed in is not focused enough to really see, but the best I can figure is that you cannot use that driver in that configuration with the case pin connected to D-. I hope you do some more investigating starting with driver set ups and dummy loads and such.

Maybe someone with better eys than mine can pic up on that pic. Good day -jander6442.

Not sure what you mean by D-, but I already got the build working. My copper wire wedge solution works a treat. Pics will be up soon.

What makes you think the driver cannot be used? What configuration? It clearly can be used, it lases!

Also I already have done my share of LPC and PHR builds. Its in my signature. They are much more difficult to get right than these closed can tougher than nails multi-modes.

Well that's great:) just to clear things up a bit D- meant driver negative/Vout or diode's negative pin negative driver connection point. It looks like in your pic that the case pins is connected by solder to the negative pin... IIRC the x-drive being a buck driver has no continuous - rail so in essence if I understand your post correct without the updated pics if you have the case pin and negative pin connected you have bypassed the driver and are running that diode directly of the batteries. If I'm not seeing things right then so sorry.

EDIT: 2,000 post man that a lot of check your batt. short your caps. ect.

Ah I see, yeah that would be bad! No I definitely did not connect any pins on the diode together. It looks that way due to bad camera angle. The pins got a bit bent from my almost insufficient diode press piece. Pressing this diode was an ordeal! I'm going to obtain a pressing tool from Flaminpyro.

Well cool man get some pics of that beast up. Lets see some of those guts shots with the final driver install. If you don't mind me asking how much was that host awesomesauce.
