Hey everyone, I dont really post here often but I lurk enough to know this is feasible.

What I want to do is make a 445nm laser show thats bright enough to be seen in a well-lit room, but not harmful for eyes.

So a question on that would be: around what power is it safe to look at 445nm on a WHITE wall from a distance of a few feet? (printer paper on a door actually)

I also would like to know what kind of software i would need / need to develop in order to spin one or two mirrors to display a name and logo, and how compact i could possibly make it.

I have all time until next September to make this from scratch. So far, i took apart an old red laser show and hooked up my arctic to a decent holster and pointed it at the mirrors
(I also never realised how well yellow paintball glasses worked with blocking 445nm light until today, turns out the pair works better than WL's goggles)

one last thing before I forget:
Click here in case anyone wants to see how far its come in the past 24 hours.

1) you will need to check the reflected Laser power with
a power meter...

2) you will need a good Laser Projector if you want to
display text..

3) I would test those "paintball" glasses using a power
meter as well before trusting to use them on my eyes....

4) get yourself an appropriate pair of Laser Safety Goggles....

I have a better pair on order, just ordered yesterday.
I don't want to pay for a full machine, i'd rather try to make my own project for once.
And, i do not have the funds for a power meter at the moment. I'd just like to know what i need so I know what all to buy and attempt to make.

You should go post this on PL... their reaction will let you know how ludicrously unsafe and irresponsible this is. :undecided:

Please follow Jerry's advice, then read up on scanners in the laser show section.

Don't injure yourself or others. It's bad for them, bad for you, and bad for our hobby at large.

So you have a 2 motor spirograph...
Fun for s short while, but kind of limited in the long run.

There's no way at all you can display graphics or text with that.
You'd need at least 300$ worth of hardware fancy mirrors called galvanometers and a controller.

yeah, i kinda figured that much since really the only shape this makes is an oval, I wasn't really thinking logically when i thought i can get a $300 piece of equipment into about ~$250 with pre-existing items.
Still, what i think im going to do with this is get a 50 mW green and mess with it from there.

^^And there is nothing wrong with that.

Start small and then make more complex projects from there. First of all, I recommend reading up on laser safety, and then saving up your doll hairs----> $$

Nothings eats your wallet faster than such electronics.

Yeah write a whole bunch of 000000000s on the wall, awesome idea!!

And also i just spent like $20 on a cheap green module so we'll see if i can install this abomination right... something makes me think im going to need a bigger box for the mirrors, since its only designed to use a diode.

Although, next thing to buy is a whole bunch of red diodes and some nice goggles. Im only planning it out right now, but i found a flashlight that looks like the laser pistol from fallout 3 and vegas. That... plus an array of 635's = profit?
