CPU heatsink, with copper spreader. Doesn't even get warm at full power.
It even had a fan I could put back on in case it gets even more not warm.

Wish I had a mini-lathe...

Nice! You should be able to set the current to at least 1,2A in that 'sink.

Is that drilled for an aixiz? What size bit did you use?

Yep. It's an 11mm x 0.5 tap from Victor -

http://www.victornet.com/cgi-bin/victor/productlist.html?subdepartments=Metric+Taps:602,902,604

TAMP-11-.5

Tricky to use. The copper is 0.125 thick with a little shaving around the hole because I wanted to have the back side of the module touching the heatsink.
If you are thinking of doing a bunch - anneal the copper first. It gets buttery soft to work with.

PS- If you can, could you post this message? I have tried several times and the forum bombs out every time I tried to reply with this message!

Got tired of the Overkill flopping around, taking up one my lab power supplies.
Here it is, my tricky Blue Fun Box! 0-1980ma.

Fun Box cruising along at 1100ma.

Damn, you slick bastard!!

Makes me jealous and suddenly I like my own little box a little less then just before seeing this.:D
Unless of course I could lay my mitts on a current meter like that....
Maybe i'll just gut my 5$ multimeter....
Hmmmmmmm...

What driver are you using?

I don't keep secrets - here ya go :)
The DC-DC power supply

And the meter...

The output supply MUST BE CHANGED in a couple of ways. If you decide to go for it, let me know and I'll let you know what needs to change on it to get where you want to go!

Cool heatsink!

The contraption with the current driver clamped on it is a bit odd, but i do like the idea of putting one of those meters on it.

I think it would be a nice thing to build myself, just a constant current supply like that for testing purposes.

Yeah, the laser head, with heatsink, snaps onto the power supply box. It's nice because I can pop the head off and clamp it to a plate that has the mirrors and combiners.

Variable drive current is great. I hate adjusting optics at full power!
