Thats not coming off. Those a pretty bad burns on the window.
If you want to give it one last attempt in cleaning it with some acetone then give it a shot but iam 99% sure that is burnt on the window. Especially since you are turning it on more and more.
Decan the diode before you cause more damage and kill the diode.
DO not turn it on anymore until you decan the diode.
When stuff gets burnt on the window it causes the diode to heat up more then normal. Not to mention all the light its blocking.
If the diode is not damage already i would call you lucky.
There are a few pictures nd threads on the forum showing how to decan a diode.
I personal like to Press the diode backwords into an Aixiz Module then spin it my drill nd use razor blade to cut the can off as close to the base s possible.
Well I de-caned it,
Lines coming out of the diode look right now
It seems like the lens now needs to be a bit further into the axis to focus it now.
I think I have read that once it is decaned it has a greatly reduced life expectancy, anyone have any numbers on this subject?
Edit:
If anyone is wondering, I cut it off by sticking the diode itself, can pointing out, into my drill.
Spun it up draging on my razor blade on the very close to the top of the can,
a minuite later it poped off.
Glad that all is better for you Now and you had good success in DE-Canning the diode.
Yes, That is another good way to de-can the diode.
I Personal do not know how much monry will reduce the life of a diode after you de-can it as IIRC there have not been any actual testing done on this.
But what i can say is i have 2 de-canned 445nm laser builds one t 1.5W the other at 100mW and those both are >6 months old. The 100mW one is more like 10 months.
So I think you have some time to use your laser before it dies on you if it even dies.
