Completed 445 Build 2W

thanks to DTR for supplying me with a 2W M140 module with a X-Drive @ 1.8A & G-2 Optics ... I decided i wanted a really nice quailty host so i chose the >>3W CREE® LED tactical torch outputing 160 lumens ....
The host is designed for 1x 18650 but this was not sufficient with the buck driver so 2 x 16340 fitted perfectly .
I made the contacts from 2 misc springs , a threaded sink from another LED torch and had to adapt the module so i could fit it all together with the heatsink .
After burning my finger tips a few times i decided to make a large knurled focus ring to give easy focusing ...its actually made up from 5 differant parts ..the alloy knurled cylinder was part of a aftershave lid , then the final aperture is from a large diode housing , then theres the black plastic round piece with a tunnel which was the safety Earth terminal cap from a new car battery , this actually holds it all together with the blue cylindrical bung which holds the G-2 .

i think the large knurled adapter looks really proffesional and looks like it is part of the original torch .

it is a side clicky which i prefer but i`m deffinalty going to incorporate a key switch in the tailcap ...i can also charge direct though the female jack in the side of the barrell ....enjoy

thanx dude ,, yeah i got that module from DTR about 2mth ago , its time really ...dont like rushing stuff or cutting corners ...i just bought another 2w 445 G2 module from DTR so i`ll be startin on that soon ...i`ve also got 2x 300mw 650`z that i`m building which are nearly complete ...my biggest problem is turning heatsinks ....i dont have a lathe so i have to go and pay for the use of a local engineers lathe ..which really gets on my nerves lol

Nice build! The focus adapter actually looks like an extended HS. Did you make the HS for this one yourself? +1 :beer:

thanx grainde , YES , i did turn the sink myself , i was looking about the house for something i could use for a nice focus ring & thats when i thought about the aftershave lids . its fixed together with a bit of araldite ..i`m really happy with it

I have done some searching and it seems 1.8A is good for getting about 2W out of a m140 diode? Am i correct?
