Multimode laser diode at 445nm
these look like 1W RATED laser diodes, not the C*S*O company 500mW rated LD, so it could be pushed harder, am I right?
I don't really know CNI prices so, they could be cheaper as the 500mW ones that we use, or more expensive..
hope that someone is interested :)

Why is it that I'm thinking that this is just the same diode being re-sold...?

All research I've conducted and seen from others on the A130-140 diodes indicate that they are 1W diodes..

I have seen in many topics and even on datasheets, that the A130 and A140 diodes are rated 500mW.

where have you found a datasheet for these diodes? Do you have a link?

The A130 and A140 diodes are run at peak powers of over 1W when in the projector. Proper professional electronic design tactics say that the components should be slightly underdriven, so the likelihood of the diodes being overdriven while in the projector is very small. Also, these diodes live a LONG time at powers of 1W and even fairly well above that. The threshold and operating currents align very well with Nichia's specs for their 1W diode dies. Short of a datasheet, there's a lot of evidence pointing towards these being 1W dies. Since the diodes are pulsed when in the projector, and since we don't have a datasheet for these specific diodes that I've seen yet, the best we can do is speculate unfortunately.

Does anyone know how much CNI is selling them for?
That is the thing I hate about CNI you have to email them to get prices.

@ElektroFreak
nichia ones are rated 500mW CW... don't have a link but easy to find...
did u mean 1W power input, or 1W light output? :p

thats not the main purpose of this thread, the purpose is that another possible manufacturer of A140 diodes mean different specs; like more power/current and more max current (like 2.5W or more per diode :p).

With 1W power input, you are barely getting the 445nm diodes to lase above threshold.

The diodes are pulsed in the projector and each puts out more than 1W peak.

These diodes may very well be the same Nichia diodes.
Hoping for these diodes to output 200% what they were designed for is hoping for a lot.

well, if the c*s*o diodes are rated for 500mW CW, some people are getting 350% or more from they.
don't think someone EVER hoped for that, probably the first person that harvested a projector was hoping to get 700mW of light, but, there he gone into the 1.5W world.

I'm just trying to expand your horizons guys, sharing what I found.

oh and lets say, c*s*o is not specialized on laser diodes (dunno if true), but we are getting 350% more power from their diodes, because of the high quality and so.
what about Changchun New Industries? they are specialized on LDs and their build quality should be better.
just a thought..

Casio is not a diode manufacturer. They use the diodes manufactured by Nichia.
Also, as Elektrofreak stated, the diodes we are using are evidently 1W diodes, not 500mW diodes.

If you want to know the truth, there is no point in speculating. Buy a diode and test it.

Nichia makes a few different types of diodes at many power levels, so it's impossible to say that all Nichia 445s are rated for 500mW, unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying which is certainly possible.

oh I see.. I didn't know that. Thanks :)
About spectulating, I do not have the money to make a "burnout test" on one of these diodes (not at the moment, at least).

I've found the datasheet of the nichia 1W diode, it is actually rated 1W. I must have read somewhere else that they are rated 500mW, but here it is: http://www.nichia.com/specification/en/product/ld/NDB7352-E.pdf

:)
