C6 M140 Blue "Chill"

Hello all, It has come time for me to share my long awaited (on my part at
least) first build of a Class IV 445nm laser. It is a rather picture heavy post
but i hope you all enjoy scrolling. The parts for my laser are:

Diode: M140 from DTR
Lens: G9 From DTR
Heatisnk: Unanodized aluminium C6 from Survival Laser
Driver: Suirvival Laser 1.8A Fixed Current Driver (Awesome)
Host: The common Cree C6 from DX
Battery: 2500mAh(real capacity) 18650 OR 2X ultrafire 16340's

Beam Shots:

Long Exposure:

I did end up correcting a lot of these photos to eliminate the purple at the core of the dot or beam to make them more like real-life.

I hope you all enjoyed. I have certainly learned alot in the process which is good and i plan to be around the forums more. I will do a burning video of this laser (because there aren't enough on youtube already). Have a good day/night.

after running for 5ish minutes the single 18650 only depleted 160mAh. Voltage begins to drop off at 2000/2500mAh so that gives 10 minutes without power dropoff (theoretically)

Very nice build man

I love the c6 host. It is the most common host ... but it is very simple and has a clean look. Great host for a 445nm laser :)

Good job!
What kind of duty cycle are you getting?
Careful with that thing out on the street, be sure not to reflect into one of the other houses.

Good looking job you did there... thanks for sharing, respect the duty cycles on that thing and it should live a long life.

Don't worry, it never came off the street and i was wearing glasses the whole time.
My duty cycyles are supprizingly long, about a minute or more.

Where did you get your host? I thought the ones from DX no longer have a logo etched on.

saw this thread earlier, just wondering what lens you had before, the one used in the video? 3 element?

my m140 gives an ALMOST square beam even unfocussed with the 3 element. my theory is that the three element clips the rectangular beam, thus the loss of power, and gives the nice square. with the G9 it is very rectangular though, fairly nasty beam specs but up close it BURNS so well

well wouldn't say thats a theory i would say that just about sums it up on what happens ,when comparing a 3 element to a 9mm .great review of your project +1
