Driver output correct, batteries fully charged, diode flashes with every powerup.

Iono, black magic? :D

Could be one in a billion, a defective diodes with it's junction made with a fault so it goes nuts when current goes through it. My best guess so far.

So yeah, coming around full circle, it looks like you just might need a new diode. :/

Let's just wait a few more posts to see if anybody chimes in with experience on the same problem. Hopefully somebody somewhere has seen that happen before and can provide some advice.

Yeah I'm curious too, this is the first time I've seen this...maybe casio had some recent QC issues? Maybe some of the bond wires aren't connected properly and disconnect immediately as the diode heats (like a thermocouple)?:thinking: Any way I'll try to decan mine, when it arrives...:beer:

Gary, were you using two, CR123a's 3.7v? If you were, I'm going to title that one as a defective diode. Go ahead and send it back, I'll try the latest M-140 diode I purchased (from a different seller).

Bristol, I have just about all the tools needed to do testing on the diode if you would like me to take a look at it for you. I wouldn't even mind testing the whole laser for you at all since I hate to hear that someone new to the hobby is having issues like this and I have experience with SL drivers and have built and used several of your exact laser. The only thing I would ask is that you prepay shipping both ways.

Thank you! If I get the driver back, hook it up to the new diode and it still is faulty, you're the first person I'll send it to! I am going to assume it was a faulty diode. However, I did order this new M-140 diode from DTR, hopefully it will perform better!

If it turns out to be the diode I would really like to get a chance to look at the faulty one. I may even be able to find a current that the diode will accept and then you could use it with a driver set to that and have a second laser.

I have never heard of a faulty M140 from DTR so if you encounter that issue again there is something else that is off.

Yes, I used the same UF batteries that we sell on the store.

In the last six months the M140 projectors have 6 A130/A140 3 bond wire diodes(3 in a row on each side) in them or 5 as in the case of the newest projectors that were just manufactured which only have 23 diodes in them. This company keeps finding way to cut corners. Anyway these A series like diodes can't be driven as hard as the 4 bond wire diodes we know as the M140's. You can still tell these diodes apart by the dot above the bar code as before.;)

Gary is sending me the Driver today. When I get it, if the newest diode works well, I will send you the old one! If the new one doesn't work well, I'll probably send you the whole kit + both diodes. :)

P.S. The old, and new diode will be pressed into an Aixiz module, that is okay, yeah?

Also, does any of you know how/where to get a Sirius 1-C host? I am new at this, however, that looks like a worthy build! To have that in a DIY kit would be amazing.

P.S. I have already tried messaging DeadEYemo; no reply.
