Blue laser pointer 1W from oxlasers

Hello everyone. I am a newcomer to this forum, but i was interested in registering for a long time (I did not just have the time) In my first post I would like to ask whether there is someone who has purchased this particular blue laser pointer 1W from Oxlasers.com

in order to inform me whether it is a good deal or not (Is it of good quality? Has anybody tested the max output?? Can it be focused properly??...) . I bought a 445nm spartan about a month ago using paypal, and I love it.

Sorry to "necropost" here (dredge up a relatively old topic): I just received the blue 445nm laser from Oxlasers, and initial impressions put it in the "OK" range -- not spectacular, but not "craptacular" {as Bart Simpson might say} either.

It does focus quite well -- at least as good as intended if not better.

On a 18650 cell hot off the charger, it came in at 619mW with the lens, and 832mW without it. The large difference here is because I believe the lens housing is vignetting the beam somewhat; the difference is far greater than could be accounted for just by having the beam pass through a lens.

Let me break out the 'ol spectrometer and see what it has to say...BBS...ok, the wavelength is 441.6nm and the spectral line halfwidth is ~2.0nm.

The thing that pisses me off the most about this laser is that it has a duty cycle recommendation. 30 seconds on; cooling period (off) is not stated.


Beam terminus at ~10 feet.
Beam spot bloomed significantly solely due to its intensity; that whitish color and large outer ring do not actually exist.
This is a nonsmoking household and nothing was on the stove either; so I'm rather surprised that the camera caught the beam itself.

Thank you very very much for the information provided... Actually, due to the fact that i purchased this laser a long time ago, I have already made those test, focusing on power rather than wavelength etc... However, my own tests showed that, with fresh and brand new batteries, it can peak at 783.4 mw (with the focusing head). But what I hated about this laser is the diversion of the beam at long distances. Notwithstanding I am aware of the fact that the diode itself lasers use at this wavelength cannot support a great focus, I was demoralized. It tended to become a common flashlight rather than a focused laser pointer...

On the other hand, I really cherished the fact that this particular laser pointer was waterproof...

To make a long story short, due to the fact that it broke down after some time (this is why I use past tenses) I purchased (after that) a survival laser which is by far the best laser pointer I have ever used... Ranging from an awesome power (over 1W) to a great focusing system (pancreatic lens) I consider it to be a superior choice... Survival Laser I 445nm Parts Bundle - Laser Components Only
