Battery Types and the Micro Boost Driver in 445nm Build

I am building my first 445nm laser. I happen to have two different flashlight hosts that I could use, but I am running into some questions about the batteries and driver circuit I am using.

Just to give a quick idea of what I am working with I have:

1 1W 445nm Laser Diode
1 Micro Boost Driver Circuit
1 Heatsink/Diode Mount/Lens Mount that fit my hosts

The hosts I have

1 MXDL Flashlight host 3X AAA Batteries
or
1 MXDL Flashlight host 2X CR123 3.0V Li Ion batteries

It seems like getting this running with the Li-Ion batteries would be more ideal, but I am not sure weather or not the two 3.0V batteries would be compatible with the DrLava micro boost driver.

What do you guys think? Would the two 3.0V Li-Ions work with my driver?

If yes, what kinds of test loads for calibrating the driver would one recommend for this configuration? I only have information for calibrating using 3XAAA batteries.

My questions really stems from my lack of specs on the Microboost driver, so if anyone can point me in the direction of some kind of spec sheet or FAQ about the thing it would be much appreciated.
