The Arctic isn't THAT bad

Well, like everyone else here, I am not a huge fan of WickedLasers. I've had my arctic for a while now (friend sold to me). My arctic will hit 770mW Max. On the other hand, I ran several LPM tests on it in the past 2 days, I came up with some interesting results.

One big reason I enjoy this laser, is the fact that it is like several different powered lasers in one. Alot of range in the power of the different modes.

Although 770mW is nothing to drool over, it's still a well-built, solid unit from what I have gathered.

Stock Battery, (red cell, came with the unit):

Low Power: 158mW, 159mW
Low Strobe: 61mW, 63mW
High Power: 751mW, 730mW
High Strobe: 484mW, 493mW

Ultrafire Battery 3000mAh BRC 3.7V, (red cell pictured below):

Low Power: 181mW, 185mW
Low Strobe: 137mW, 134mW (wow)
High Power: 769mW, 770mW

All readings were taken after a full charge. I did 2 sets of tests for each
.
I was shocked with the low power strobe strength increase with this Ultrafire Battery. I also think it could be a knock off ultrafire. I noticed some spelling mistakes on the battery label itself. I dont know if anyone else knows the answer to this but let me know if your ultrafire batteries look like this (pictures)

Again, I don't want to try and 'sell' the idea of someone buying and Arctic. I just wanted to post this info on the different modes and their power output. Just something interesting I thought I would share.

Thanks everyone :thanks:

Still doesn't make a difference to me. WL was crap, is crap and will remain crap. Beware of battery explosion btw

Of course it's not that bad. After all it's only 77% of the advertised power.

Heck, that's a passing grade isn't it? What more is there to ask for right?

Oh, btw, is it still the world's most powerful and FDA approved laser?:shhh:

Nice review test.... :gj:

I can't understand how a properly designed Constant Current
regulated LD driver would give a Laser output of 493mW and
770mW with different batteries of the same voltage....
Unless one if the batteries is really defective or near death.

I still gotta agree with Silvershot about WL....

Not if you are looking at eBay's DSR ratings....

Nah, just school grades. I mean if you compare to say presidential, congressional, senatorial, or any government agency approval ratings, 77% seems downright fantastic.:shhh:

thank you jerry

Well, the 493mW was on High Power strobe mode, not constant ;)

I agree, I also don't appreciate WL at all, but the laser IS in spec 500-1000mW (They just lie in the advertising)

and besides, I paid just under 200$ for this

Man I could not find a youtube clip of it but if you have seen Pentagon Wars which is a move about the Bradly tank fiasco I was looking for a specific line when the general in charge was testifying in front of the House and arms services committee and the general is being grilled on the development of the failed Paveway bomb.

Congressman

What about the Paveway bomb General?

General

I'm not going to tell you the Paveway never missed.

Congressman

It missed by a mean distance of five miles and nearly 50% of the time.

General

in baseball, a guy who hits.400 is considered pretty damn great.

Congressman

In baseball the losing team isn't killed by their opponents.

General

Be that as it may, the Paveway is one hell of a bomb.

Yes I know there's a lot of counterfeit batteries Out there. Do you think this one is one of the those counterfeit batteries?

Of course not! That right there is a GENUINE Ultrafire battery.

On an unrelated note, I have this Rolex watch, it's actually one of the special editions... it has the company logo with three xXx's! It's called the triple X!

Need to sell it fast, so I'll give you a discount. Only $400! PM me and we'll arrange the wire transfer asap:p
