Anybody can help me in 2w 445nm LD

I have get some 2W 445nm LDs, but I can only get 1.6w maximum. I have not use G1 or G2 lens, use cheaper lens. Is the lens must be G1 or G2 lens.

To reach 2 Watts, low loss lens such as G1/2 are neccessary.

What current are you driving the diodes at?

I just dirve the ld use my board, i use some lens from china, and put it at 5V and 2A, i have try to set more than 5V, but i got one ld died.

I have test the current and voltage on my driver board, not LD, I have study Lazzerer's post, can't confirm where is the current and voltage? If i should test the current at LD 2 pins?

You need to use a test load to check the current at the driver LD output pins, don't just connect it to a multimeter! Here is a good test load http://laserpointerforums.com/f39/fs-selectable-test-load-up-3a-assembled-diy-kit-stock-63450.html

If you run it at 2 A you could hit 2 W with a 3 element glass lens if your diode is efficient, but it is not recommended as the current is a little high for an M140 and at this power internal reflections (with a 3 element glass or cheap uncoated lens) could damage the diode. A G1 or G2 would definitely be preferable.

You will kill the diode, (if you haven't already), if you give it 2A !
Maximum is 1.8A :beer:

oh, sorry, i forgot one thing, my LD is Latest 9mm 2w LD, not from M140/M150, from new brand DLP

Like someone already said, test your driver output with a testload. We need to know what current the laser diode is running at.

The 9mm isn't a "2W" diode from what I know... It's a 445 diode, but does anyone have a spec sheet for it?

Well that sure does look like our 9mm diodes there... We've gone from 1W 445 diodes to 1.6W... And we always try to double what they rate them for, so let's go 3.2W builds :eg:
