Just after a little bit advice I've searched the forum, I am busy building my new laser with the diode, driver and lense I purchased from DTR ( oh and a huge thanx to him for the perfect transaction and speedy delivery). I am just a bit curious I have found a perfect host but just not sure about the heat sink for the diode can it be a push fit with grub screws and thermal paste or does it need to be a press in fit so I need to make a collet to press it in

Cheers

(And what a great forum guys )

Heatsinks generally need to be as tight in the host as possible, to ensure maximum heat transfer. I read somewhere that it needs to be so snug that you might need a hammer to put it in there. However, I'm not sure if your asking about the heatsink to host fit, or the diode to heatsink fit.

ah, if you get a custom heatsink, the seller will usually ask you if you want press fit or aixiz fit. I usually get heatsinks made to fit a aixiz head, as it is easier and for press fit heatsinks you will need a tool of some sort to push it in. If you go with the aixiz size, then it would be a good idea to use some thermal grease/paste in between (there will be a set screw in the heatsink to hold the aixiz module in), you can get the thermal paste on ebay for quite cheap.

For the batteries I recommend the AW brand over the chinese ***fire batteries, a good place to get AW batteries in the UK is Genuine AW Batteries - Cloud 9 Vaping they have all the usual sizes (18650, 16340 etc).
