I have been working on a DRY host build for a while now and with some support from none only our resident "Pro" Lazeerer, I've produced what I call The Black N' Black or B&B for short.
Using the 9mm 445nm diode from DTR (thank you) I was hoping for a very efficient diode (like we all do) and while I didn't get the top dog diode I am very pleased with what I recieved so if your thinking about pulling the trigger on a 9mm diode DTR is the man.
I got busy on the HF lathe after receiving the 2.25" bar stock
The sink turned out as big as the head of a Mag-Lite
:wave:Here it is in a sAik host head
The driver is... well... moving along, it's a buck and it's set to 1,829mA this current I chose after binning the diode and seeing how efficient it was/wasn't.:shhh: I'ts a X-drive:thanks::wave:
I used 3x18650 Pan. from Larry who got them to me very quickly thank you for that:thanks:
Using the stock lens I had 2.3W at 1,829mA... I could have push it harder with marginal gains and even used the G-1 measurement which was >2.45W. I'm happy with those numbers it should last a while at that setting (sorry no freezer test).
I'm happy with this build it's a burner for sure, though it had some problems. I originally wanted to utilize the aluminum plate at the bottom of the head for a dual driver build, but went against that. I'm going to try a different route on the next one:evil:. Here is a shot of it lite up, sorry beam shots won't do it justice until a can get a better camera.
Next to my 2W M140 this is a noticable to the eye tick above the 445nm in color with no way to test it who knows? beautiful non-the-less.
Thank you in advance for looking have a great day.:wave:jander
Edit: lazeerer had used this style host first, I had previously though not, but thats how good that guy really is... thank you.
