I have not kept up with lasers for the last couple of months. I did a quick scan over the threads and did not see this discussed my apologies if so. Anyway I just stumbled upon this. Link below.
Don't know if this new module is a good or bad thing for us. Im leaning towards the bad side because form factor, heat sinking, price, driver availability and power requirements. It also does not look like the individual diodes can be extracted from it. Even if possible, 50w in a portable laser would be extremely dangerous though I would still love to see one built just to see.
In the info provided it says the module can be collimated with a single lens array though beam quality at distance is probably questionable.
Any insight into this new development?
