Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Yup that happend to me thay sent a half thread.
I sent them a msg 5-10mis later (fast) Chuck respondedand and said thay send another no questions. Was told shipping made an error.
Then thay sent two fullthread one's lol :)

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Are you just putting them in the plastic acrylic lens nut or are you making your own? I would like to see some lens nuts made out of metal

larrydfw made some brass nuts , but with his 405g-1 (high powere lens)

@ jayrob
Your results show that the beam specs are really not that bad.
The only issue is the fast axis divergence.

For pointer use, this seems fine.

If better results are desired, that would mean we would have to abandon the aixiz modules and source some suitable cylinder lenses.
When my diodes arrive I will be experimenting. If I get good results, I will share them.
I already have something in mind.

I think he means that he will be buying some of the Aixiz 405 lenses with the full-threaded brass housing.
The 3-element lens is too big to fit in the plastic housing and the diameter of the lenses do not match.

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

So the aixiz 405 glass lens is actually bigger than the plastic one? Are you talking about just the inner diameter or is it the outer diameter as well? Does it still use the same M9x0.5 thread?

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

So would this be what we're looking for? Then we just need to buy the little focus ring to go with it?
405nm glass lens for AixiZ 12X30mm laser module - eBay (item 380137309450 end time Jul-02-10 13:34:45 PDT)

Well shoot, I just ordered one of the half-threaded ones last night. ><

-Trevor

Do not be fooled. The ones on ebay ARE the half threaded kind. I just got mine from there :p

I sent the seller an e-mail. This is the reply I got.

This one is the full threaded unit as we have both types. I need to retrain shipping to make sure the correct ones are sent.

I guess you need to tell them to make sure they pack the full threaded version.

The Aixiz glass lens consists of 3 elements housed in brass.
The Aixiz acrylic lens consists of a single optic housed in plastic.

The plastic lens nut will not accept the glass optics.
Yes, the plastic lens nut and the brass lens nut are the same diameter and the threads are the same but the lenses cannot be swapped out.

However, the Aixiz glass lenses for red use the same optics but with a different coating.
The Aixiz glass 405 lenses in the half-threaded housing can be swapped with the Aixiz glass 650 lenses in the full-threaded housings.
That is what jayrob was describing.

Aixiz can be asked for a full-threaded brass housed 405 glass lens, and that is what others have been discussing.

RA_pierce is correct...

It's a brass nut. No plastic. You can get them from AixiZ for about $10 bucks each!

AixiZ 405 Glass lens...

I think it's fine... But if there comes a solution for something better, then by all means let me know! :)

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Video Update:

This short video shows how the beam and dot look from 8' distance (on the ceiling), to 35' distance to the far wall... (it's way brighter and bluer to the eye)

315mW's - AixiZ 405 Glass lens...

oh my! and to think I'll be running mine at ~700mW and that'll be over 50% brighter

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

The video dose not do justice to the brightness. (or how blue it is)

I can't believe how bright this wavelength is even at 315mW's...

I don't even have a desire to have more power. Honestly! That's how bright it is!

Well it's right up my alley then! The EXTREME alley

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

@Jayrob. Have you tried any distance pointing with it? like over 400m? I was just wondering because I can't even see 100mw of bluray over 100 yards away at night, and I was wondering if this wavelength is the same about that?

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

It's a very visible wavelength...

And at 300 + mW's, it's just like pointing a greenie around in the night sky.

Yes, you can hit far away trees and stuff. I didn't try that in daylight, but at night, it's super bright...

No just trying to get a bulk order and pass the savings on to those who get on my list-after I send them all out you will need to go to aixiz for more(a GB more or less)--hak

Don't forget about scotopic vision. At night, these should appear almost as bright as green.
