Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Ok, if there is no spring in the way, and the lens it threading all the way in so that the focus ring is touching the module, and it's still not getting focus, then I would say that the diode is not pressed flush...

You can experiment by taking the focus ring off if that it what is hitting the module, and not allowing focus. If it's a matter of just a turn or so, then the focus ring can be re-positioned using some medium strength thread lock...
I think it's something you'd have to see for yourself :p The dot NEVER got smaller whatsoever. As if there was no lens, just raw output :wtf:

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Well both my 445s have half threaded aixiz lenses at the moment, so I'll be used to it.
@ Human symphony- You got ripped off! It's just the lens assembly with no lens :p. When I put the 405G1 in my 445 it works fine. You just have to screw it almost all the way in. Like only a couple mm between the module, and focus ring.

Not my lens :p and it works perfectly in Mike's bluray :undecided:

?? Wait, something is wrong...

Let me get the story again. Is this a 405-G-1 lens that he bought from me? Does it focus in other lasers like a blu-ray? I believe mikeeey bought a 405-G-1 for his blu-ray...

Oh wait a minute... I remember now. is this the lens that mikeeey bought a bare Meredith lens from me because he burnt his lens lighting fireworks? Maybe he put the lens in upside down??

yeah humansymphony, it sounds just like the lens is backwards. I'd bet 50 bucks that's it. Curvy side points towards the laser (be careful, the flat side can look curvy LOL)

Ok... if it works perfectly in mikeeey's blu-ray, but not in your laser, then it soulds like either the module threads are not letting the lens get screwed down far enough, or the diode is not pressed at least flush with the back of the module...

One of those two things...

Doesn't the flat side go towards the laser?

Nope... Just a couple days ago, I was putting the stock casio lens in and I definitely had to put the curved side towards the diode. It did what HS is describing otherwise.

I know it's flush. I'm a little OCD about things being flush :p lol
I know I screwed it in all the way no problem. I even tried screwing it in all the way without turning it on (in fear of my diode going LED again :p)
We even tried his meredith/aixiz mod in my laser too. It actually did the same thing
What's wrong with my laser LOL

Re: 445nm A130 Lens Comparisons!

Something is strange if the lenses focus in other lasers but not in yours...

And now you are saying that two different lenses don't work in your laser, but they work in other lasers. So that says something is different with your build...

Maybe your module is a tad longer or something strange. I have ran across 2 or 3 AixiZ modules that weren't machined properly at the press fit area. (no press fit)

So maybe you got one that was longer or something. That would explain it...

But you can take off the focus ring and get focus I'm sure. Then just use some medium strength thread lock to re-position the focus ring. (if it was to stay in that laser)

Flat side of lens towards diode...

Crown side up. (out)

Meh, who knows :undecided: Don't really plan on getting a 405-G-1 for this anyway :p

I just checked for the third time. With the stock casio lens, the flat side is facing away from the diode. Perhaps it's different with other lenses?

Oh....

Well I never saw one in the projector, but it looks like an Aspheric design. (crown out)

But I tested it both ways to make sure when I did the testing, and the results are in my first post of this lens comparison thread... It's basically not desirable for pointers...

Yeah, the stock lens is awful but I don't have much of a choice until the aixiz ones are finished.

No, in the projector the round side is out.

Jay,

Have you tried your aperture addition for the, 'G', series lens with the stock Casio lens?
