AixiZ update...

I talked to AixiZ owners today and they are still waiting on the AixiZ 405 full length threaded lenses...

But it should only be a couple of more days. (hopefully)

I have 85 lenses on order. But 55 of them are for other members...

The rest will be for sale with my Custom Focus knobs:

Your the reason they are all sold out jayrob!

Could you PM me exactly what they told you? I e-mailed them this morning and never got a response. My 445 build is on hold waiting for that order and I am going nuts!

They said that they have a thousand lenses on order and that they were thought to have been there last Friday. So they do expect the lenses any day...

Today I went to visit Humansymphony and check out his 445nm.. sure looks nice!

We tried my 405-g-1 lens and it strangely didn't screw in all the way. the dot remained too big and he said it came in contact with the diode. The only thing I could think of was that he might of had a sure module, but we compared it to my aixiz module and it was the same.. very strange..

Sounds like a Sure module...

The only way it can contact the diode, is if it goes past the point of focus, and then back out of focus again...

And then I'm still not sure it would actually contact the diode.

Sure modules look just like an AixiZ, but the threads are a little tighter. And sometimes not quite as far down either...

Intrestingly enough I had the same exact problem with my Likeitbright copper press-in heatsink and Larry's "no spring" 405 lens. His lens works great in any of my Aixiz modules but not with the custom press-in... conversely, all my Aixiz (acrylic) lenses, the one virtual village AR lens and my JayRob 405-G-1 lenses fit just fine... go figure :thinking:

Sorry, Larry's lens didn't fit my "RomiRed", which is NOT a press-in, but it's a brass module, so it's NOT an Aixiz module... no clue what a "Sure" module looks like... :undecided:

For the different modules that fit AixiZ acrylic lenses, I'm sure I can modify my lens assembly to work if you end up getting one and it doesn't thread all the way into the module. (AixiZ threads)

It would probably be a simple matter of running the nut through my 9mm die, and it just takes off the black finish from the brass nut...

So if that's the case, just PM me and I'll take care of you!

I got a full threaded lens from Aixis. I'm not sure if it was assembled backwards or what. I installed it with the lens retaining nut facing away from the diode at first. It wouldn't focus at all. Then I turned it around and it worked fine.

Yeah, they are all backwards like that I think. Confusing if you've been using the plastic one!

The AixiZ acrylic, AixiZ glass, and AixiZ 405 glass lenses all have the lens retaining ring on the end closest to the diode...

I'm the one that flips them (the brass nuts) around and assembles them backwards for my 405-G-1 and 650-G-1 assemblies...

Hey you got that from AixiZ just today?

I'm waiting on an order of 80 lenses. Do you know if they got their stock?

The one I got was the replacement for the half threaded one I got from Ebay. Hopefully you'll get yours soon.

I alwqys assumed the retaining nut faced away from the diode. This is the first stock lens I got from them so it threw me off.

By the way, I have a custom fit EzFocus adapter that is threaded deeper for an AixiZ 405 lens since the lens sticks out farther than most lenses...

There are two styles. One is a small 'knob' that is the size of an AixiZ focus ring if you want to use a silicone tail cap. (dust cap)

And the other is fit for the host diameter. I have measurements for two of my kits so far in that style.

Lol- I just figured out how to install other lenses in an aixiz lens housing (I thought it was all 1 piece

) and I stuck in the stock casio lens. I spent 5 minutes trying to get the "oil" or "dirt" off the lens that was making that terrible smudge then I remembered this thread :crackup:turns out that's how its supposed to look. Now I have to decide between runtime or quality... I think to avoid killing the diode I'll stick with the gross stock lens.

It was mentioned elsewhere, but I forgot to mention it in a new post for this lens comparison thread...

hakzaw1 told me a couple of days ago that AixiZ will be getting a 445 coating for the AixiZ 405 lenses that we have been waiting on.

I called yesterday and talked to Chuck at AixiZ. (owner) And he verified that yes, they are getting the lenses AR coated for 400-460nm, full length threads... (he asked to tell everybody to please be patient)

So hopefully the wait will be worth it. And they may put out a little more power.

I will be updating my comparison in the first post of this thread. Where I already have listed 5 different lens comparisons for 445...
