Re: *445nm lasers* !arrays 550$ and diodes 35$!

i am using the funds from the single orders to pay for all shipping, trying to bring the best deal i can to everyone.

So in simply way, it's free? Well, sending diode isn't really expensive in normal letter :p

Thank you for all answers, I'm sure I'm gonna order atleast one of them soon.

sending diodes in letter would be smart idea only if u want dead diodes...

Re: *445nm lasers* !arrays 550$ and diodes 35$!

if they are properly protected ie in a container and bubble wrapped it should not matter.
the only thing to worry about is the letter ripping open. that alone is the problem.

Re: *445nm lasers* !arrays 550$ and diodes 35$!

I could care less if Kiyoukan forgot to add the PP fees to the price. I was just annoyed for a second because I thought that PayPal had found yet another way to skim some money off the top. If that's the fee added by Kiyoukan to take care of the PP fee, then that's perfectly fine. PP fees are much better than drawing attention to one's self from a bunch of random gifts that all happen to be the same amount.

As to the wording of Kiyoukan's merchandise and the groups that helped support that scene, I liked that one group that was always ahead of the Class

And to Kiyoukan, the organizer of this thread, thanks for providing this great service to the community. I'm very excited to own such a new and exciting technology.

Re: *445nm lasers* !arrays 550$ and diodes 35$!

these lasers are fun but my god are they addicting. i had an idea to make a whole set of beam shows and use a whole array each laser with its own pair of stepper motors, but that much power is kinda crazy.
But would make one amazing beam table for sure.

Re: *445nm lasers* !arrays 550$ and diodes 35$!

(page 8, post #296)
I added funds to my PayPal some time ago but it won't clear till Jun 24 (Thu).
Could I pay for 1 diode when my funds clear?
Would it be possible to be on the list for one of those last 10 diodes? :san:

I might be able to pay now but Thu seems to be easier for me.

Re: *445nm lasers* !arrays 550$ and diodes 35$!

On packaging...
buy some larger anti-static bags, cut them smaller, and heat seal them If you have a Harbor freight near you, they sell heat sealers for about $25. Worth the investment on this GB alone. Otherwise get soem anti-static foam.
Unless the diode leads are soldered "shorted" one may get dead diodes ina tooth holder. The plastic may generate static and kill the diode.

What about just wrapping in a bit of aluminium foil?

Put foil over foam. Poke diodes to foam through foil.
Foil will ground static charge. Foam holds diode & foil.

Re: *445nm lasers* !arrays 550$ and diodes 35$!

last I knew diodes weren't sensitive to static electricity.
I for one have never seen any type of diode packaged in any kind of static shielding
including LEDs, then again, I could be wrong, after all, I haven't seen any laser diodes (other than those in CD players) at radio shack .

kiyoukan has done a great job with the GB so far. I'm sure his packaging will be equally awesome ;)
