Re: 445nm Casio Laser Diode Compilation Thread

I know that 445nm is far from the color of DPSS 473nm lasers, but this new powerful diode is such a milestone in the field of lasers, and it does bring a lot of excitement to the laser community like I haven't seen in a long time. Methinks this could spell doom for the ultra expensive and sensitive DPSS 473nm lasers!

And I just looked on the Photolexicon site... Is it true someone pushed one of these critters to 1W ith a TEC?

Robert

I think in that thread he said it was a diode he got from e-bay...

So hopefully these diodes are the same or better!

the diodes are already outputting >600mW stock running from the projector

These projectors were the source of the "500mW" ebay diodes.

Re: 445nm Casio Laser Diode Compilation Thread

So will these need extra correcting optics since they're multimode, or just just one of jayrobs lenses?

Thats an insane amount of power! And there are 24 diodes all next to each other doing that

To be determined. All I can say is that I've seen very good results posted using just a single aspheric lens.

Re: 445nm Casio Laser Diode Compilation Thread

24 diodes for 800 bucks? 34 bucks a pop?

And does the projector include optics that combine all the beams, or are the beams used to provide a big fat beam, as in that beautiful picture that I'm stealing for my desktop...

Looks like it's collaminated pretty well with just your lens. I'm definetly gonna have to get one of these.

how are these projectors not blinding people!!!?

Re: 445nm Casio Laser Diode Compilation Thread

That has to do with the fact that the projector's output power when it exits the aperture is spread evenly throughout a highly divergent cone of light. The power levels should not be high enough at any one point to cause injury.

Re: 445nm Casio Laser Diode Compilation Thread

the diode collimates amazingly well with just an aixiz lens. I have a diode in my Kryton groove already and it is freaking amazing - the brightness almost overpowers my 250mW green
