Hello!! I am from Russia and recently came to this forum, and I want to show my 445nm laser.
Laser housing machined on a lathe by my design. I used a homemade driver on chip ZXSC400. current on the laser diode 1.3A. It's direct drive from 1 18650 2,2A li-ion accumulator. I only run it with glass Aixiz lens.

First welcome to the forum

Nice host you have!
I like it :)

Welcome!

That laser looks great, i think you're going to fit in well around here :)

Looks good. My guess is you use a scissors type knurler. Looks like your getting the same doubling on one cutter problem I used to fight with all the time. Do you start with the cutters clamped to the piece or do you gradually increase pressure until your at the depth you want?

Also, don't be scared to cut deeper when your getting a good diamond. Nice sharp deep knurls are a thing of beauty. :D

I used to get the same doubling you do.

But now I generally manage to get good diamonds every time.

Both were done using the same cutters. I can share my technique but it's really just more practice than anything else, though how you start the knurl plays a big part in the outcome. I get the best results by starting the lathe and clamping the cutters until they're just barely contacting the material, then turning the lathe off and checking the pattern. If it's a good diamond, I turn everything back on then keep clamping until i'm at the depth I want. If it's doubling, I shift to a slightly different spot on the work, adjust the angles the cutters meet the work ever so slightly, then try again. But I know this. If I start the lathe with the cutters engaged against the work initially, I ALLWAYS get doubling.. Sometimes on both cutters..

Also, is that a custom driver, or is it out of a flashlight?

I start with the cutters clamped to the piece. I just started working with the milling machine. Thanks for the advice. I will definitely try it! I made this driver specifically for this laser. If you want, I upload the layout and structural scheme of driver.
