While I was building over the weekend, I built a little something for me. I had a Jayrob Key Chain host here.

Also, I wanted a lower output 445nm laser. With the Jayrob Key chain host taking only a single CR2 battery, this seemed like just the ticket.

I set the driver at only 275mA. It is putting out 50mW with the stock AixiZ acrylic lens. I'm not too worried about the survival of the lens at 50mW ;)

Without further ado, here's the pics

There is some smoke in the air here

At 50mW (after lens) there are still multiple lines in the raw output. I'm going to try making an actual lecture pointer at even lower current. We'll see if it will go down to a single line at lower current

This was a fun one.

Very cool build :)

What's the lasing threshold for the diode? Would make a very cool lecture pointer!

You should throw on an ez focus adapter for some ez focusing at your lecture, NIce build as always Dave.

The lth is ~200mA

For a lecture pointer, I use a fixed focus ("infinity") and a momentary switch on the side. This one has a "clicky" in the tail

I have to wait for some more flexdrives to arrive to build the lecture pointer :(

Very nice.

I have been wanting to do one in a 10280 keychain but I settled for a 10440 SS host that is on the way that I plan to set around 500mA.

Maby you could try the 10280 keychain for your lecture pointer? It has a momentary switch.

^ Or put it in a Leadlight host, i'll bet it will look incredible with ~50mW of 445nm coming out of it
