Have you focused it properly? Are the diode pushed all the way into the module?

It seems that you are not focusing the beam correctly..
or you are not getting the full beam profile through your
lens...

I get a beam that looks like this ------ and
it measures 2mm X 35mm when focused at 35 feet..

Try flipping the lens around so the opposite end is facing out.

When I powered up my first module using a 405nm Aixiz lens, I had the same issue.
Upon flipping my lens around, the beam became drastically more focusable.

From my own experience, it seems the "flatter" end of the lens faces the diode and the "rounder" end faces out.

If you are using the 405-G-1 lens and you have the spring under the lens, remove it. The lens needs to be closer to the diode than the spring allows. You can either cut the spring in 1/2 or you can use a single wrap of teflon tape on the lens nut to make it more "snug."

If that doesn't work, either your diode is not pressed all the way into the pocket or you have a "Sure" brand module that does not have the threading all the way to the bottom, preventing the lens from getting close enough.

Peace,

That STILL looks quite unfocused... Something else is going on here Firefly.. Something with your lens isn't right. It still isn't focusing as much as it should... Have you tried turning the lens around?

Yes but have you took the glass lens out of the housing, turned it round and put it back in? , I , like others have had this problem, and thats what it was.

the lens is fixed on this (c) CJoint.com, 2008 and I have not removed the lens of the "screw"

when i screw or unscrew the spot disappears
