This is the solution.
But firefly refuses to listen (or doesn't understand the concept).

Take the lens assembly out and take photos of it and post them for us to see. It should be an easy fix once we can see inside. You were the one to contact us, we could help more with some internal photos...

Strange, in your picture it does seem like the lens is facing the correct way.
The flat surface points towards the diode, and the convex side or crown faces out.

Since it looks like your lens is facing the correct way. The only other thing I can think of is that it's not close enough for culmination.
With the g1 lens it needs to be almost touching the diode in order for it to focus.

Just keep trying to get in touch with laser66. I'm sure he can help since this is his assembly.
