Hey, newbie here. Just opened up my first m140 projector.

I have a few mtype and atype m140's
I've heard people talking about how atype a140s are true 455 while the a and mtype m140s are 450. Is there any real difference and is it noticeable? How do the wave lengths compare between the a and m type m140s?

Older diode models tend to be on the low-WL side, while newer ones tend to be higher-WL.

I have an older 1W laser (not sure if it's the A140 or M140) and it's considerably more violet-shaded than the 3W one (which uses the NDB7875) when compared side-by-side. The difference is obvious on the beam at night, but the focused dot looks very similar.

Look of the draw also plays an important role, WL varies by as much as +-10nm on the same diode model.

^^^^ what a lame way to introduce yourself-

besides the info you seek is here and can be found by a search-
we tend to ignore those w/o a filled in profile or asking dumb questions becasue they are too lazy to do a search

:-0 sorry but thats just the way it is..

It would take all day just to read about lenses here
you would alredy know that had you done a search...

not too late to make a nice intro showing respect for the forums.

hak
ps
that thread should be placed in the WELCOME section & you can read the intros from others to see what a good one looks like.

its also a good place to visit daily to welcome other new members and if you are lucky one or two may live close to you-- you can buld your post count by posting nice welcomes in that section to other newcomers.

JUst do NOT post short posts (especaillly in other sections) that are obviuosly ONLY for the post count-- never double post unless it REALLY needed instead edit copy then paste after deleting one of your posts.

READ the WELCOME section stickies BEFORE you post ANYTHING else

Hm a bit rude but yeah I have already taken your suggestion. It seems when I signed up my profile details have not saved. And yes, ive read most of the stickies on the various subfourms. I see you really dont trust me as you keep calling me a scammer so ill attach a photo. (Yes im careful with ESD, i was properly grounded and diodes are stored in a ESD bag)

Hak, I hope you don't take this the wrong way. You're a great guy and a valuable member of this forum, but IMHO you should tone down a bit on these "welcoming" posts.

The profile location is not mandatory and IMHO it should never be. Many people have very valid reasons for not filling it up. Not everyone lives in a free country. And even the ones that do might just enjoy the anonimity - like I do. Remember this forum is indexed by search engines after all ;)

Just because someone doesn't agree or follow the "rules" you hold so dear doesn't mean they're scammers or irresponsible laserists. If these "rules" were so obvious and generally agreed upon they would be official and enforced by the moderators.

Again I'm sorry I had to post this, but you've been doing this a lot.

Aaaaagh photo so big it won't fit the screen. It took me a while to learn how to use Photo bucket. But that will make your pictures easy to view. You simply upload the pictures to that site then bring the link here to your post in the go advanced mode instead of uploading it directly here.

Hm ill use that next time I post a picture.

Agreed, holy crap you're everywhere hating on a new person some way or another. As for OP send us some pics!

IMHO I did not call nayone a scammer
I think I said that scammers do not like to provide a true location for obv. reasons
you are twisting my words not all members w/o profiles are scammers.
I have said many times that a complete profile in NOT manditory
nor is giving advice..
most of the objection to that are made by other members with no location so..
I touched a nerve there

&&&&&&&&

Most finish thier profile- I Plus rep them and we become friends
so let them speak for themselves. But I do respect uor opinion. and i never wrote you about your location did i?

I think the majority here want to know generally where we are locatyed and dont fail to make a nice 'intro' delibrately = is was a long time before i did my intro & I do not regret doing that
