I'll watch it when I get home, but if he's trying to prove his point... is going with Cyber Bullies for the title really the best approach?

Offer to LPM one of his lasers still stands, but only on the condition of dropping "Cyber Bullies" from the title.

I do find it quite accurate. This entire thread was made off assumptions and not one person contacted him for details. Everyone was quick to call him a liar, but nobody stopped to ask if he was lying.
The LPF community bullies people they don't know, I'm guilty of it as well.

Trevor: That'd be great, if you'd like to speak to him personally I can send your phone number to his e-mail and have him call you.
or if you'd like his # I can e-mail and get permission from him to give it to you.

This is not true. Well not entirely, there are folks who did not call him a liar in this thread and in the same breath have not bullied new members... ever.

I have talked with Rick before and have had many customers that do business with both of us on eBay. Most of his customers seem very happy with him and I have never thought he was not on the level.;)

On his listings for the 9mm diodes doing 3W+. I had assumed he was driving them harder than I am comfortable recommending to people currently. As far as his readings I did not think they are too out of the ordinary for the 9mm diodes. From what I have seen if you drive them @ 2.5A+ a large percentage of them will hit 3W. A small percentage of them will do over and up to 3.7W which is the best I have personally seen and another small percentage will not like the current at all and may peak pretty high but drop like stones. I usually tell people that you can reliably get 2.4W-2.9W out of these with 2.1A current and the stock or G-2 lens which is on par if you put 400mA more in that could make up the difference.

Questions of his LPM reading a tad high is possible but not by that much based on what I have seen out of these diodes and the current he is running them. As far as the source I have pulled 9mm diodes out of the three different projectors out there that are known to have them and they all seem to have been the same based on testing. I have stuck with the projector that has them with the high quality lenses as they are the best value. It is certainly possible that he has found a source of them I am not aware of and if that is the case it is up to him if he wants to say where he is getting them but my guess the difference is the currents they are being run.

That's why I want to believe it. It says good for a guy to sell for decent prices and say hey call me if you have any question or issues.

I opened this thread to produce a good debate about this super output but in a "bona fide" action. Some time people here need to have an open mind to debate without insult others. In this case Rick is trying to collaborate with the forum and I am happy with that.

Now is time to test this laser in another LPM without speculating anymore. Thanks to Rick for the disposition.

I know I was overly quick to assume he was flat out lying but in my defense it is because most of the time when someone comes out claiming to have done it better than others it is because they are trying to make a quick buck and are just flat out scammers. I would love to believe that he has found a source for 9mm diodes that average a higher output so we shall see what if Trevor will back his claims. If it turns out to be legit I may even have to see about doing business.

This is where my skepticism came from;

I talked to this guy and he claimed to throttle 9mm diodes at 3.5A... He then claimed that the out put would exceed 4.5 Watts. I don't know what to think. Seems a bit off putting to me.

That we are defensive, and ask for proof verifiable proof is also a good thing IMO. I mean how often do we have someone show up, make a claim/bold statement without offering any proof, of being willing to provide it, and with time find out that the person in question is full of crap.

On the flip side the honest guys, like Clif for example, end up being known as just that... honest upstanding guys.

In my opinion DTR is 5-stars member and have the knowledge to make the best official review and have the 100% of the credibility of the forum to be the testing man. I vote for :bowdown:DTR.

I am not exactly an impartial bystander here as I sell similar items. I doubt I would be his first choice nor would I desire to be put in that position. There are quite a few members that could be trusted to give a fair test if he felt so inclined without there being any implication of possible bias.

Yup, I made my assumptions based on what Jolly said as well. I guess what they say about assumptions it true, it sure made an ass out of me.

My apologies to Rick, I was too quick to assume.

My only quarrel about the whole thing was the temperature where he was testing it, and I thought maybe it was affecting the reading. But with this video and the multiple laser he tested I'm thinking he might be on to something. Might have to get one of these lasers.

Having just watched the video now, I'm left with with just one concern, and one question.

The concern is whether the LPM is calibrated. If it is not reading high, than the lasers are as he claims them to be.

It's quite possible for an LPM to not be calibrated and produce questionable results. I was recently in a position to receive what I expected to be a 2.5W laser, but which in fact turned out to be a 2W laser. The seller's LPM was off... through no fault of his own. We worked everything out, but I just wanted to mention that it can happen...

The question, can we (at least temporarily) un-ban him?

If the offense was posting too many threads in the B/S/T, spamming it, than certainly he knows not to do that.

I also think it would be nice to have him in this discussion/thread, kind of strange to talk about someone, without them being able to get a word in.

So to sum up... let's see if Trevor's results return the same readings as he shows.

i second the un-banning first because he desires the right to input on this discussion and if these are accurate results i believe he deserves the right to be able to post in the forum as he seams to be knowledgeable. and i almost spammed the B/T/S when i first posted there but kinda thought something was up when it didn't go up and thats when i read about the thing saying it needed approval.
